A Good Place to Sleep

This hotel is very simple, there was a bed, a toilet, a TV. Nothing more Nothing less. If you’re a traveler with a busy itinerary this hotel is perfect. However I wouldn’t recommend it if you plan on spending the majority of your time cooped up inside of it. Pending you do find yourself stuck inside, there was a complimentary high speed wireless connection that I did find very useful. Especially after reading the details of this particular hotel claiming they had "dial up". So it was a pleasant surprise to see an updated internet connection. The location of this hotel is Good and Bad, on one hand its sort of a slummy area. A quick drive due West on Main street reveals this. However on the Good side, there are plenty of restaurants within a short 2-3 minute driving distance. And the Mall is only about a block or two away. All in all, I was happy with the stay. I had low expectations to start with and thus this hotel sufficed perfectly. As I said in the beginning, it was simple. A bed, A TV, and a Bathroom. Perfect for a traveler who doesnt plan on living in the room for long periods of time.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The mall is just down the street on the corner of "Broadway" and "Main". if you take Broadway due South the town of Santa Maria opens up with some other options to see and/or eat. Santa Maria and this Hotel were a great base for us to use on our vacation, as it puts you right in line with the Highway that travels up and down the coast.

Ughh!

The name of the place is misleading. Yes, they had roses, but that’s where the beauty stopped. The furniture was stained, the bed was hard, and there was a dark red stain(blood, perhaps) on the carpet near the window. There were bugs in the bathroom. They offered free dinner, but the hotel’s lack of hygiene kept me away. The place had a number of dayworkers as guests, so there was CONSIDERABLE NOISY ACTIVITY from 6 pm on. The hot tub was broken and had been for months, according to the clerk. I spent as little time here as possible.

Value, Kind, Professional

I stay for one night for Pismo Beach tour. This hotel’s rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. I can see that hotel has gone through the renovation. It is well situated near Highway and there are so many restaurants nearby (Denny’s right next to the hotel). I woudl recommend this hotel without any reservation. I left a camera charger in the room. Mr. Ram was very kind to find it and helped me to get it back next day morning. A staff even called me informing that UPS has come to pick up the charger. What a professional service!

Would not recommend.

During our stay they were renovating the hotel of which we were unaware of until we got there. The hot tub was unavailable and there was caution tape in many areas. In addition the rooms were not the cleanest and the chairs had permanent stains on them. I have stayed in much better hotels for around the same price.

Not impressed

This hotel is very run-down, with old, worn carpet, peeling wallpaper, and few amenities. The hotel staff was pleasant, but wanted to take a color picture of my driver’s license. We were very uncomfortable with that idea, so they didn’t. We would not stay here again or recommend it to others.

Great place for the price

We enjoyed our stay here. The frontdesk staff was very nice The bed was comfortable, room was clean. There’s no towel hanger in the bathroom and no hair dryer. They let us use the hair dryer and tennis rackets (tennis court in the back). Because we were visiting during the memorial day weekend, we could not find a decent place for dinner or breakfast.... before we went for wine tasting. Overall, our stay was good.

Hidden Treasure

I have stayed at a lot of hotels, motels, inns over the years and I was very happy with this one. The rooms are set up nice with lots of ammenties, The bathroom is big, it was a quiet stay. I will be back for sure.

You get what you pay for

The hotel is old. Looks like it was built in the 60’s and there has been some updating, somethings like the shower could use some renovating. The furniture was old and ugly and no plug at the vanity to blowdry my hair. Minor issues. Overall, it was a nice pleasant stay for what we paid.

new ownership has spiffed it up

I’ve stayed here several times over the years. I like the place; it is quiet, friendly and close to the freeway. New ownership has improved the room locks and sliding glass doors, and especially the great new microwave/fridge I found in my room this time. The new staff is still friendly; I will be staying here again. This isn’t a fancy place, just a nice place for me to stay when I want a vacation. I will be back. Oh, and did I mention the new fridge/microwave... p.s...coffee only in the lobby, not in the room...bring your coffee or get it next door at Denny’s if you want it in your room before you venture out in the morning.

Would Stay Again if in Area

Hotel was acceptable and the staff was friendly and accomodating. Rooms were clean and fairly spacious. The bed and chairs were comfortable. The rooms were quiet considering the hotel was on main street. There is a lot of eating and shopping establishments close by. They had a pizza and soda function in the pool area at night, however it went real fast due to some guests over doing it. The room had no clock/alarm or ironing supplies.

Travelers should make sure they bring portable alarm clock and travel iron. There is ample space to do work from hotel.

Great except for . . .

Very nice room with a great bed, microwave, refrigerator and even a nice balcony overlloking the pool. However, NO in-room coffee maker. We will stay there again, but will bring our little 4-cupper with us.

Excellent option for short stay

I decided to get this hotel based on other’s recommendations and I’m not disappointed. Its an excellent choice in a small city to make a stop when traveling by car from LA to San Francisco. Excellent American style breakfast nearby (1 minute walk), gas station on same block, near highway.

Good place for short stay

Located close to the freeway, and near a few fast food places - this is a very decent place if you’re on a roadtrip, and need a place to crash. If you’re looking for a romantic B&B - this is not the place. But, it was clean, they had a nice pool, service was very good - and you can’t beat the price.

Okay nothing fancy but decent

It was in okay condition, they do need to do some upgrades in there bathroom. Rooms were overall very decent. Unsafe feature to me is the is no safety protection latch on the doors. I was by myself but if I would have had my children with me it would of posed a concern. The cleaning ladies knocked way to early in the morning, they were very pleasant but with out the safety latch you almost felt unsafe because they could just walk in. Would I stay here again, probably if I could not get a decent rate someplace else. This was last minute planning and last minute hotel is what I got.

Very quaint atmosphere,clean, nicely decorated,very nice staff. Impressed.

My reservation was processed promptly, the staff at the front desk was very cordial. The room had 2 double beds as requested, the rooms were neat,clean,and pleasantly decorated. The pool and garden area were right outside the door, there was peace and quiet and coffee was available all the time. My freind and I were very impressed! We would stay there again and have recommended it to others.

Follow main street down to Guadalupe beach, what a woderful little beach!

Great bargain

I can’t wait to come back here with my friends. Loved the sliding glass doors which gave easy access to the pool. The palm trees are a nice touch too. I don’t think the wing away from the main area & pool would be as nice though.

Jocko’s Steakhouse in Nipomo. Even if you can’t wait for dinner there, order a steak appetizer in the bar area. The cocktails are good, too.

What you’d expect for the price

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights while looking for a room to rent while she attends college. We didn’t want to spend too much on a fancy place since we were only going to be there a little bit. It’s a really old place, you actually use a real key instead of a key card. Everything is old and worn, but it IS clean which is important to us. It did not feel very secure. The bathroom window has no lock and it goes to the outside, although it is small. There isn’t any of those locks that you see on every hotel room door, that you can lock from the inside, so I was a little nervous about that. I would stay there again if I was on a strict budget, but bring some way of locking the window and door. The housekeeping service was good. And they offered us a free dinner on both nights.
