Great Hotel

Wonderful hotel!! Was way above my expectations. Rooms where clean staff was friendly and had an extremely impressive FREE breakfast buffet. I had to make a call in my room because of trouble I was having with a tour I booked. I thought it was gonna cost a fortune but it was actually a very reasonable rate. I plan on staying at a K&K hotel whenever possible.

Great place to stay.........

I’ve been to Prague several times and discovered this hotel on one of my first trips. I always book here because the value for what you get is great and the location is within walking distance to just about everything. Very friendly staff and extremely clean and comfortable. I don’t even bother looking at other hotels when I’m naking reservations. Highly recommended.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Utilize the city’s trams and subway system to get to attractions as well. They are conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the hotel, as is the city’s main train station.

Nice, but needs better adaptation for computer and Internet users

The hotel is excellent overall; the breakfast buffet is particularly nice. The main problem is that even though they have free Internet connection (much appreciated) the rooms are not really adapted: - No good table to work with a computer. - The only table is made of glass, not suitable for using a mouse - Most importantly, the electrical outlets are controlled by the overall switch. So when you leave the room and come back you find that your computer ran out of battery and shut down! The hotel was pretty nice about our request to tell the cleaning person to leave the switch on (meaning that the main light remains on as well, wasting energy), but it’s really a nuisance. Otherwise the hotel is well-located and has excellent service.

Great Comfortable Hotel

Hotel Fenix was clean comfortable and had all the amenities one would need. The staff was professinal and helpful. The breakfast was fabulous and was plentiful. The location was okay, although a little farther from old town than I would ahve wished but certainly not far enough to cause and issue. The strip clubs next to the hotel were of one concern at all. I would highly recommend this hotel

Great hotel with good location

The K&K Fenix in Prague was a great hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. The complimentary breakfast was consistently good with a large selection. The staff was quite friendly and spoke good English. The hotel’s location is good especially considering how inexpensive the room was. The hotel is about a hundred yards from Wenceslas Square, about a five minute walk to Old Town Square, and about a five minute walk to Vinohrady. The only negative aspect of the location is that it is next door to a few cabarets; this wasn’t any problem though. The only people I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to would be families traveling with young children due to the cabarets. I will definitely be staying here next year when I go back to Prague.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

A fun and cheap day trip from Prague is the city of Plzen. The Pilsner Urquell Brewery is located there. From the main train station to Plzen costs only about $6 each way and takes about 90 minutes. Trains run both ways once an hour.

I would stay again

Nit picking: The room keys are difficult to use, why they can’t go to the regular "credit card" ones is beyond me; The in-room internet is wired and the cords provided are short, I wound up with wires and plugs at very awkward angles. The good stuff: The staff and service were top notch or above, they were responsive and helpful in all areas. I stored one of my bags with them for 4 days before I checked in at no charge, no worries. The room, aside from the nit above, was good and mine was spacious enough for a few days. Yes, it’s in a bit of a red-light district, but we weren’t hassled by the "schills" badly enough to bother me. Just wave, "no" and they leave you alone. If this hotel were at the other end of Wenscalas Square (closer to Old Town), the price would be double. I would definitely repeat the stay.

Traveler's tip on dining

Stick to the places a bit off the main tourist drags. They are cheaper (I averaged less than 30 a plate for dinner with a couple of drinks each) and the quality is better. Try Jama, Kolkovna, Pivorasky Dum (the food is great, the beer better) all are less than a 10 min walk from the hotel.

Great place to stay

The location of this hotel was excellent right in the heart of everything, nightlife, restaurant, shops and much more. The service was second to none and the hotel was very clean. The only negative point i could find was the size of the rooms...pretty small and the property is best suited for couples and singles.I would not recommend families with children as it is in the middle of the red light area.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Bunch of bars,cabret...strip joints, great restaurants and shops within walking distance.

New, modern hotel and great staff and prices but... location could be better

It’s you’re choice whether you’d like to get in the heart of the old town of just outside of it which is still full of tourist and places to see/eat and walk around. This hotel is just a few blocks from the metro/sub stop and just 10-15 minutes walking to the old town with the clock and where considerable more tourists hang out. We love our hotel and fine with the location but it’s located in the middle of the block that has a lot of gentlemens clubs. People working for the clubs are constantly trying to get you to take a look inside everything you pass by. You won’t feel threaten at all but can be a bit annoying. That’s why I’m guessing we got a good deal. If this hotel was a few blocks over or in the old town it would be 2-3 times more. It was a guys trip this time so I’d stay there again for the great price we paid (under 200). All the staff member were great.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Get the all day metro pass (station or any newsstand) and explore and nearby attactions. Get to the Castle by 8:30 view what you’d like out of the way, otherwise you spend hours in lines due to tour guides and general public. Go down to the monastary (by bus or walk), and then get to Charles Bridge and walk across. Interesting museum of torture after the bridge. Not too far from the old town to walk or bus it to the old town and explore around

Good Location

The hotel’s location was perfect for us ... near the Metro, near tourist attractions, etc. except that the street on which it was located had several "peep show" and "girly" attractions. However, no one bothered us at all as we walked past. Staff was very friendly and very helpful; hotel was well-maintained; service very good. Fitness center was small but very clean and comfortable with a sauna, change area with shower, bike, universal machine, stretching area and relaxing lounge chairs.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The hotel is within walking distance of the Museum Quarter with several excellent museums. It’s also a few blocks from a stop on the Metro. Very convenient. I’d go back in a second!

Nice Hotel, Great Location, But Uncomfortable Bed

K & K Fenix is a very nice hotel, except for one thing. The mattresses are very uncomfortable, you can feel each coil in the mattress, and they do not have box springs. The room I stayed in had a queen bed, so I do not know if this is this the case in every room. Even with this, major in my opinion, negative I would still recommend this hotel since it is very nice, the staff is very attentive, and it is in an excellent location.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

I found that if you are interested in saving money while dining to look at the prices the restaurant charges for a Coke. With the prices at the time I went to Prague (May 14 - June 1 2008) the price for a 0,2L Coke was 35Kc, 65Kc, or 95Kc depending on the restaurant in the tourist areas. I ate a various price restaurants and actually found the ones down side streets, which were generally the cheaper ones, actually had better tasting/quality food as well.

Great hotel; small rooms

The single rooms are VERY small; so plan for a double at least. You’ll also want to pack a power transformer if you plan to use your computer for internet access or charge phone/digital cam, etc.

Great hotel, but...

We recently spent a week at this hotel. The room was great. Very clean and comfortable. The service was wonderful and the staff was friendly. The free breakfast was hearty and tasty. The wireless internet access was outstanding and includes 3 free available PCs in the business lounge. The only complaints I have are the always present cigarette smoke in all the public areas and the location of the hotel next door to several all-night cabarets. Walking to and from the hotel was never something to look forward to with all the cabaret hawkers outside attempting to recruit me us to their club and not knowing when to take no for an answer. Unfortunately, the hotel is powerless to stop them as these whore houses are perfectly legal in Prague. With that said, I would stay here again as the service and value are outstanding.

Great hotel but an * is necessary

This hotel has a great location. Very near to everything. Staff is polite but short. The woman at the bar will only be friendly if you speak Czech. They provided an adapter for the electric plugs which was very helpful. (It was to be returned) This is a good location as long as you have the ability to walk long distances. If you cannot, I would suggest using public transportation. Now why some may find the hotel objectionable. There is a Cabaret directly next door. This is easy enough to avoid if you want to. However, the sales people will ask you to go in every time you walk by FP. (This will only happen to men though.) Aside from that, this is a wonderful place to stay.

Traveler's tip on dining

There is an award winning Czech resturaunt in the basement of the municipal house. The food is excellent and is reasonably priced. There is also an Itallian place on the left side of W square as you walk towards the river. Food is great/cheap but service is bad.

Very nice with fabulous breakfast included

I was very happy with the hotel in every way except perhaps that the room was much smaller than it appeared in the pictures on-line. Once we got used to that, however, it was really not a huge deal, especially since we didnt spend too much time in our room. The breakkfast was really great, and we really only needed one more meal for the day after indulging in the buffet. I felt it was very worth the price paid.

AHHH Prague

The Fenix was an excellent place to stay. The room was comfortable - though the view was useless. A nice lobby with an over priced bar. This is a fine hotel in Prague and while I can’t imaging this hotel becoming the most memorable part of your stay in Prague, it certainly is a fine place to return after your journeys in the city. The location is excellent - a very short walk to the square and the breakfast memorable.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

You can pay 26 K for a beer or 126 K for the same beer. Stay off the main streets and avoid the hotel food and drink. The restaurants on the side streets are cheaper and more interesting anyway.

Great mid-priced hotel

They’ve focussed on the essentials and offer excellent service for the money. In particular, I liked the comfortable, clean, rooms, free internet access, excellent breakfast, and friendly, helpful staff.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Avoid the tourist oriented restaurants. They are way overpriced. For great cocktails, try the American Bar, in the Municipal House.

K& K Fenix, a great find.

The K & K Fenix was a good find for us. The Hotel was very well kept, clean, and rated very high with our group. The free breakfast was excellant, with a wide variety of choices for all alike. It was set up 1st class, with the staff very helpfull. The staff was english speaking and treated us very well, making our stay great. One of our group sprained an ankle, and the staff called and set up a clinic to provide some crutches for the remainder of the stay. The Hotel is 1/2 block from the square, making everything walking distance. We found an excellant Czech Rest. right next door with great beer and food prices. Stay away from the main street to find the best buys. The only negative we found was that the Hotel was right next door to a couple of Cabaret clubs who were actively recruiting customers after 10:00 PM. We only heard them one night for a litle while, with rooms being very quiet. When they seen that you had ladies present, they left us alone, but if the ladies were 20 feet ahead they would approach the men to come and enjoy the sites. Overall it was not a big concern, as the police were always near by. The main square was watched very closely, helping one feel that the streets were safe. There was definetely lots going on every where you looked. We would definetely go back to the KK Fenix again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Stay off the main drag to get the best prices for food and beverages. 1/2 blocks off the main street provided great Czech or American food and cheap beer.

Great Hotel in the Center of Prague!

The room was very clean, comfortable, and of good size. The pillows and comforter were made from goose feathers. The AC doesn’t turn on unless the windows are locked which I thought was really cool. The breakfast was amazing: different types of breads, fresh veggies and fruits, desserts, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, cold cuts, cheeses, roasted mushrooms and tomatoes, dried fruits, nuts, coffee and tea. The two drawbacks are the electronic key with which I had trouble opening the door and one of the receptionists who was annoyed whenever we asked her anything. Overall we had a great time when we went in August ’07.

A very good deal

Excelent location, 1 block from wenseslao square, hot delicus breakfast included, big room for a europe hotel, internet free (at lobby). A little bit noisy at night, you have the best cabaret in town next door.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

I you want to realy understand this city I will recomend to take the a walking tour , a very detailed tour 4 hrs by walk, I suggest the first tour in the morning, and then you will have a lot of time to explore the castle, that is the finish point of the tour.
