Great Cape May Hotel
Just stayed for three days right after Memorial Day. Hotel is across the street from the beach (fee to use). Plenty of assigned parking--heated pool with bar area. I stayed in a non suite room which was very nice. Each room has a private balcony area with two rocking chairs. Its an older hotel but it has been upgraded to very nice standards. Would highly recommend. Just a few blocks walk to the downtown area with shops and restaurants.
Traveler's tip on dining
Two recommendations---Lobster House in Cape May and Ravioli House in Wildwood(ten minute drive) for serious Italian

Cape May Diamond
The hotel location is very convenient and in walking distance to the beach, downtown, shopping & dining. We were there 4 days and only used our car once. Our room was very clean and cheerful and all rooms have an ocean view. The staff was excellent & very courteous. We would definitely go back. Our only complaint is that the mattress was a bit soft & we like a firm mattress... but that was it. Everything else was great

Great place to stay across frome the beach
This was a great place to stay. Although it is across the street from the beach dont let that stop you. the stree is a small one and the view from the room is unobstructed. The rooms are nice but a little dated with the wicker furnature. But it goes with the general "antique bed & breakfast feel of the town. Overall a 2 thumbs up :)
Traveler's tip
Get up early for a walk on the beach then head just south of the hotel to the little shops and have some breakfast or coffee. It is all within walking distance. If you are comming for a Coast Guard Graduation. This place is really close to the training base.

Over priced, especially for off-season travel.
I stayed at the hotel in April. Although the price I received was reasonable, it was still too much for off-season. It appeared that most other hotels were closed for the season, maybe that is why they can charge as much as they do.

Great Location near the center of the action
My wife and I lucked into this one. This is an older building but well maintained. Front desk staff was always available, helpful and willing to please. Bed was comfortable with decent amenities. Marquis De Lafayette is located within walking distance of many activities in the heart of Cape May and if have a bicycle you can flat leave the car in the parking lot.

Elaines Dinner Theater, good food (maybe a touch greasy) plenty of it and the stage production was HYSTERICALLY funny.

ocean view
Cape May has a reputation as a B&B haven, but if you want to get away to a relaxing hotel with an ocean view consider this place. Every room faces the ocean with two blue rockers (on a small balcony) overlooking the water. No smoking is allowed anywhere in the hotel. We had a bedroom and living room/suite with tvs in both rooms and a kitchen (with refrigerator and stove, which we never used). Frankly, if you want to see the ocean and be close to great restaurants in a comfortable place, this is the ticket. Dont expect Hilton-level lobby, but they serve a free buffet breakfast and the staff is great.

More like a halfway house than a hotel
Petty, greedy and mistrustful management make you feel like a crime suspect. After the normal check in procedure you are expected to sign statements promising not to smoke, to pay for any damage to your room, to pay for lost key cards and to list everyone in your party including children. You are then sent to your room with instructions to check for missing or damaged items for which you will be liable (how can you spot missing items ?) If you want breakfast, you must pay for it before you are allowed into the dining room ! We were woken at 5:30 each morning by the kitchen extractor fans being switched on, there is no bar or food provided after breakfast. Room decor was prissy and tacky. Everywhere you turn you are reminded to tip someone - nasty, pretentious, petty and greedy and I would never go back.

Uncle Bills Pancake House is a real slice of Americana and a wonderful place to start the day.

I was there on off-season
I liked the hotel and would enjoy a visit there during the summer. The oceanfront view and amenities were great. Unfortunately we were there in March for other reasons and as just a hotel, I didnt find the beds or pillows particularly comfortable, but would go again.

Just OK
It was what I expected for a beachfront motel/hotel that caters to a summer crowd.

Will stay again!
Although we went to the Lafayette in March when nothing is open. Th e hotel was great. We have a infant and stayed in one of their suites. It was roomy and very comfortable. the rates are reasonable however in the summer it is kind of pricey. I think I would still spend the extra money to stay there during the summer when Cape May is in full force
