Grand Hotel
It was a "Grand Hotel" in the old-world style and if you like massive grand hotels you will be satisfied. I prefer smaller more intimate hotels so I will probably look for a 30-60 room style hotel next time. Room was nice and we were right across the road from the beach.
Traveler's tip on dining
Of the two restaurants in the hotel I would recommend the less formal one.

Luxury on the Northern Coast
Beautiful hotel with all the amenities, the furniture (all matched and hand painted) was chipped and in need of a touch-up - this was the only disappointment from "one of the worlds best hotels." The staff was friendly and very professional, the room was clean and there was appropriate housekeeping service (turn-down service, etc.). Did not use the pool, but it looked well maintained and is heated. The business center only has 2 computers, so expect to wait if you want to check email at a peak time (evenings).
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Deauville is known for its horse racing and sales, designer shopping and polo matches. There is an American film festival the second week of September each year.

Expensive for what you get
We are used to staying in nice hotels and was surprised at the value for the price that we paid at this hotel. For a very expensive room, we were surprised that the hotel refused to serve us dinner because they were too busy. We ended up waiting 1 hour before they were comfortable seating us and the restaurant was not even 50% full. I would recommend a smaller boutique hotel in Deauville.
