Good Location but room is not as good
Although location is excellent (conveniently located in the center of the city), room itself is not as good. There was funny musty smell (it is mostlikely due to tropic environment & specific to rainy season. Perhaps the other hotels were similar but I cannot tell...) Bathroom is clean but I expected the level to be a little higher as well..Not a bad place though if you are looking for just a place to sleep, except Saturday night. (There is a huge club close by, it was pretty noisy until around 4 am...)

Good choice
Corridors a bit worn but the updated room was clean and large enough for 3. Nice rooftop open pool. Good location in town near food, good value accommodation. $3/load wash & dry was welcome surprise. Only downside was some disco function underway that bass-vibrated the entire building through my very comfortable bed until Sat dawn. Ugh. Airport shuttle.

Great customer service
Great cusomter service! Stayed for 4 days in October 2006. The only drawback was used coffee cups left out in my room attracted ants.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
- I recommend going to the Gateway Discovery Centre to plan activities while in Cairnes. The staff are very knowledgable, and also sometimes have information about discounts. - If you’re intrested in diving or snorkelling, I highly recommend Down Under Cruise & Dive. - I also enjoyed the train and skyrail trip to and from Kuranda.
