Cute, Quaint Hotel, Close to the Ocean and Santa Monica...miles away from reality
When looking at this hotel on Oceana, there is a picture that is just after sunset, with the pool lit up and all of the individual floors with sort of a golden glow. This led me to envision sort of a Miami Beach style motel (which is cool). But upon staying here, the hotel has more of a tucked-away (Spanish-influenced) hotel with more of a quaint European feel (which I liked even more). Stayed in one of the Ocean View Suites. Well appointed, very homey, nice furniture and layout, and the bathroom was huge (10 x 14?). The bed was big and comfy. One thing that I didnt quite understand was that in the living room, there was a large (42"?) plasma tv, and in the bedroom, there was a much smaller (24"?) plasma tv mounted on the wall directly opposite the wall the bed was against...18 away. They shouldve swapped those tvs. They had beach bikes which were free for guests to use for the first 2 hours, ($10/hour after that). My wife and I rode down to the Santa Monica Pier (~1 mile), and on to Venice Beach (~3 miles) and back, with plenty of time left. Had breakfast at the hotel...great spread, though not complimentary :-( Ate lunch there as well. Food was pretty good. St. Germain/champagne cocktail was really good. Hotel staff was very young, pleasant and attentive. Overall, was really impressed by the experience and know why everybody rates it 5 stars. Ill definitely stay there next time in the area.
For really good food nearby, visit R&D Kitchen. If they have the Tuna Burger as a special, get it!...Amazing!..and for only $17.00...Id pay twice that, happily. Best my wife and I have ever had!

Wonderful boutique hotel!
My second stay at Hotel Oceana, and loved it both times. Had a room with two double beds this time, and it was spacious, comfortable, quiet, and perfect. The staff couldnt be nicer...felt like I was a permanent resident - greeted by name every time I came in or out! Loved being across the street from the "park" and being able to enjoy the ocean view from there. Highly recommend Hotel Oceana!

Great Hotel in a wonderful location
This small quaint hotel was well staffed and well located. As a result of retrofiting an older apartment complex they had a lot of steps going to the hotel and the rooms. We would definently stay with them again.
