Lovely experience
We took advantage of a special offer, and our room was not a river view room. Nevertheless we had a restful view of treetops, quiet and privacy. The room was excellent. The service in the hotel was prompt and kindly - all people were proud of their work, and it showed. When we forgot a suitcase on departure, it was kept and sent to us promptly without charge. We will return if at all possible.

Good but Mixed
We ended up in a lovely room and our day adventures in the outdoors nearby were spectacular. However, this hotel had several problems. Initially we paid for an upgrade to a river view room. This room was COMPLETELY unacceptable - discount motel size and amenities with a micro peek-a-view of the river. We downgraded to a forest room - and this room was MUCH larger, a bigger window and a fireplace! Don’t pay for a river view room. Second, on our first dinner at the main dining room - after being seated no server found us. Ever. After getting our own drinks from the bar and our own water - we invited ourselves to the buffet and at the end of meal sought out the manager to complain and were comped for the meal. Third, the food in all the hotel’s restaurant was quite poor. We eventually ate lunches and dinners out of the hotel. Some lovely small restaurants in the nearby town. In the end, the quality of the room we had, the physical beauty of the location and the surroundings, and restaurants in the nearby town are reasons to go back.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Get a forest view room rather than river view. It will cost less, be larger, have larger windows and most likely have a fireplace.

AMAZING HOTEL...WEBSITE DOES NOT DO THIS HOTEL JUSTICE!
We stayed here for 2 nights due to a friend’s wedding. Everything about this hotel was amazing. Our view was spectaular, the lobby was breathtaking, the food was fantastic, the rooms were oh so comfty. The little town of Stevenson was very quant. Cant’ wait to come back.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Drive approx.30 miles to White Salmon and book a 1/2 day white water rafting trip with Wet Planet. By far, the best white water rafting around. If you like adventure, this is a must. Another nice place was Hood River. Appox. 20 miles away. Great shopping and wonderful restaurants.
