Good to go.
Definitely I would stay at this hotel again. I ended up paying a little extra and got a bigger room with the full harbor view room. Definitely worth it to upgrade to the full harbor view room on an upper floor. The trolly is nearby which can take you to all the local hot spots or to the subway. A little more off the beaten path then I expected, but being near the trolly made the stay just fine.
At the open market areas, you can usually talk them down at least 50% off the price they were originally asking.

Practical, period.
The room was a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures but was clean and satisfactory for our short stay. Bathroom was better than average. Definitely not in the best location but it wasn’t hard to find public transport or cheap taxis to and from hotel. Pool was a nice bonus. The Pacific Island works as a practical hotel that will meet your basic needs while on business or vacation -- but is definitely not for those looking for touches of luxury comforts.

GREAT Hotel and staff
We spent 9 nights at this hotel. Trip started out by missing the flight to HK due to weather. I called Expedia, they notified the hotel we would be a day late, no problem, in fact the hotel refunded one nights rent immediately. We had upgraded the basic package room. When we got there they did not have the room available on a NO SMOKING floor, I insisted no smoking. They upgraded us even further without an issue for a Full Habor view room for the entire 9 days. This hotel is great. If there is an issue it’s that they are way west of the main part of HK Island. The TRAM however is right out the door so getting to main area of HK was easy and CHEAP and fun. If we go back to HK, which I suspect we will not (it’s very expensive and long flight from the west coast USA) I would certainly stay at the ISLAND PACIFIC.
Buy an Oktopus card right on arrival. Easy way to pay for transportation (not the cabs) and a lot of food joints take it also.
