Not Fancy but reasonable
The Hotel is right next to MD Anderson. It was clean but they clearly are not a 5 star hotel. Each room has a nice small kitchen with full size frigde. The delivery menu food was excellent. The include am breakfast had the basics and everything was fresh. Down sides; phone did not work some of the time, the elevator went out of sevice for a day and when you walked through a smoking area of the hotel you knew it!

run down but inexpensive. you get what you pay for.
This hotel is in the backyard of the medical center. If you have to go to the Texas Medical Center for something its a good deal. Be sure to bring or rent a car, there is almost nothing within walking distance except the light rail station. Walking around this part of Houston is scary. It reminded me of the South Side of Chicago in the 1980s. Looks fine on the outside, but you know when the cops are slowing down and looking you over, its not an OK neighborhood. The hotel clerk never answered the phone at night, she couldnt find a corkscrew, the continental breakfast is a couple of apples, oranges and whatever packaged bagels they can dig out of the freezer. The kitchenette in my room was nice, but the dishwasher didnt work. The dishes still had hardened food on them from the last person. The carpet had never been cleaned and was nasty. Friday night, there was so much noise in the hall, I couldnt sleep. I swear I saw a couple of hookers in the elevator on Saturday. Every other person is a hospital patient with pajamas, oxygen and wheelchairs. If its only for a day or two and you have a car, its alright but I definitely would not bring a family here. I would only stay here if I needed a cheap place or needed to be next to the med center. On the plus side, the bed was super comfortable.
The Metro Bus service from IAH to downtown is a great deal! The buses are clean and nice and prompt. It runs daily from downtown to IAH airport. Look at the metro transit for Houston website for more information. They charge about half of the rate of SuperShuttle.

So not impressed
Although this hotel is located super-close to the medical center, it was not a very comfortable place to stay. The lobby area is nice, the staff was friendly and attentive, the location was convenient, BUT the room felt dingy and dirty. It was kind of depressing and not a place we wanted to relax after a long day at the hospital. I wouldnt stay here again.
