Quick stop for college parents
The Hotel at Vernon Downs is a quick stop away from many of the colleges in the surrounding Rome, Utica area. It has always been a convenient, clean and affordable stop for us as we visit our daughter at Hamilton College. Enjoy the pleasant lobby, clean rooms with a small kitchenette. If you are into taking a risk on the tracks you can enjoy the ponies or the casino as well.

Nice rooms but that’s it.
We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Hamilton College. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable, it’s smoke free, and that’s about it. You will start wondering about what you got yourself into when you hear the music in the elevators. If you want a nice restaurant, it’s a 15 minute drive. If you want casino games (as opposed to slot machines in an over-sized quonset hut), that would be the Turning Stone Resort, about 5 miles away.

Great place for a visit!
We love this place! If you are a fan of harness racing ask for a room overlooking the track. They have a great continental breakfast that’s free and if you have time you can watch the races or spend some time in their casino. We always stop here on our way to Rochester.
