Very nice hotel outside the city

If you don’t mind staying in a nice hotel several miles outside the city of Vancouver this might be a nice choice. The skytrain to the city is just a short walking distance. The hotel is pet friendly and with daily fee parking garage. The hotel is also located next to shopping malls.

Traveler's tip

If you are traveling with pet dog or cat, the skytrain would only allow pets inside a pet crate.

Excellent accommodations

Excellent accommmodations, clean spacious room very reasonably priced and in close proximity to largest shopping mall in the area and the Skytrain station.

Very nice place to stay

Hotel staff were very helpful and gave precise and accurate directions on how to get around the city. They made it worth the stay!

It was a 10 minute train ride to downtown. We were able to save considerably by staying outside of downtown, however was very easy to get there with the kids. We felt very safe.

Good hotel

Very clean room, easy to access shopping mall around hotel, free high-speed internet access in room, comfort bed/quilt. Will stay there when visit Vancouver again.

Not a four star hotel, in my opinion

This hotel is essentially out in the middle of nowhere, unless you’re into shopping malls. In addition, the condition of the property is a bit long in the tooth. The hallways were dark, with carpet that could use cleaning. The restaurant/bar was nothing special and the entrance to it was seemingly under construction. The lobby area is very plain, not interesting, nor particularly inviting. This could be a suburban hotel anywhere. I recommend staying in Vancouver proper, at the Hyatt for example.

Should you find yourself stranded there, there is an amazing Chinese restaurant nearby, Fortune House Seafood. It might even be worth putting up with the hotel to dine there.

the metrotown hilton lived up to all our expectations - service, cleaniliness, well maintained, location, and price. will certainly stay there again the next time we find ourselves in the vancouver area.

Excellent location

Although not near downtown Vancouver, this hotel is in a great location for shopping and catching the SkyTrain. The fitness room was small and smelled heavily of rubber, but a ten minute walk west leads you to a beautiful, forested park with trail system (City Park) and literally across the street from the Metrotown mega-shopping mall. Also across the street from a grocery for those traveling on a budget.

Easy Access to Metrotown and Comfortable

Very decent accommodation with access to metro town and surface transportation to downtown. Decent food at Crystal Grill.

Very relaxing

The hotel was right next to the Chinese mall that I could get very inexpensive Chinese breakfast, lunch, and dinner any time. And there was a very huge mall right across from the hotel where I did a lot of clothing shopping. The mall had "Zara" which I do not see many in New York, and many other brand. I thought the location was perfect because you can avoid the busy traffic of cars and people of downtown but yet you can take the skytrain right around the corner from the hotel to go to downtown easily. I stayed at the hotel to attend a friend’s wedding but it was one of the most relaxing hotel stay I ever had.

Robson street is famous for shopping but you could find most of those stores in the Robson street in the mall right across from the hotel, and the good part is that you don’t have to wait in the line for the fitting room.

Quite impressed

The hotel’s location next to Crystal Mall was a big plus because of the wide selection of Chinese food and shopping. Not to mention that Metrotown is just a stone’s throw away. The only bummer is that parking overnight isn’t free (it costs $6.00/night.

Hotel far away from the Vancouver Downtown

The Hilton hotel is a very good hotel. There are two things to comment: 1.- It is far away from Vancouver Downtown and 2.- It is in chinatown zone or asiatic zone.

Very good value

Our room cost roughly half of the prices I could find online for downtown hotels. For those savings, I was very happy to find a modern, smartly appointed property. The Skytrain and the road system made it very easy to get around, with our car one day, without it the next. There’s an outdoor lap pool, whirlpool, and wading pool (the lap pool is just that -- very narrow and not very deep).

it’s a nice,clean hotel for the price you paid and there’s lot of shopping around the area too.

The swimming pool is a joke in this hotel

I almost feel like sueing this hotel for breach of "truth in advertising". They claim to have a "swimming pool" but what they don’t tell you is that they have a one lap pool on the roof of the 3rd floor. This "Pool" is nothing but a warm water long ditch. I had specifically chosen this hotel since my kids like to spend time in the pool. They were *very* disappointed by this hotel. If a proper swimming pool is a "must have" for you, then this hotel is not for you.

The hotel has underground parking. Try to park at the top floor as the exit is shared with a mall and the many many shoppers trend to create some "traffic jams"

Hilton Burnaby

Could not be nicer. Pleasant and helpful staff, nice facilities, and three inernet computers for use by guests. NOTE: hotel is not in "downtown" Vancouver, but convenient to transportation. The Crystal Mall, in same building complex is geared to oriental population ... signs, newspapers in Chinese. Nice food court and wonderful fresh vegetables, etc.

The metrocenter mall is one block away. Large grocery, several restaurants and many stores. Oriental food is prevalent within walking distance of hotel, except in metrocenter.

Disappointed

We stayed five nights for a short vacation in Vancouver. The room we were given was small with old and tired furnishings and was overlooking a parking lot. The front desk upgraded us to a suite for an additional daily charge and the view was much improved but the furnishings remained sub-standard. The rooms were clean but attention to detail was missing -- we had unsightly dirt (or mould) around the fittings in our tub/shower. The staff were helpful and most courteous and the hotel has free parking. It is difficult to understand how this hotel rated four stars from CAA.

The hotel is located in the suburb of Burnaby -- not an optimal location if you are visiting the city of Vancouver -- approximately 30 minutes drive to downtown.

Excellent Stay in Vancouver

We enjoyed our stay in Vancouver, partially because of this hotel, which is conveniently located near the SkyTrain. The service was excellent and the place was clean.

Great place to stay, interesting surroundings

My wife and I were here for one night, the Hotel is great....the cost was very competitive for such a high quality. The staff were very efficient and the valet parking guy was the best....he was so efficient and helpfull...he earned that tip!! The hotel is situated in an area that appears to be a ’Little Saigon’ as we walked through a covered walkway into the Crystal mall next door and found a treasure trove of Asian food establishments. There was a great variety of ethnic foods, we had a great time choosing and everybody was friendly...although we did look like two Caucasian tourists who had got lost!! The sights, sounds, and tastes of the food court were amazing!!
