OK stay

Postive: The hotel is in an excellent locoation to stay in Pittsburgh when going to see the Penguins as you can walk to the game. The hotel bar hotel was a hopping place both before and after the hockey game. Negative: The room itself was not impressive. The bed was set on the ground as it appeared the frame was broke. The television set was ancient. The room we stayed in did not have a hotel guide of services and amenities that the hotel offered or activites in the area to take part in.

Good choice

The hotel was very convienent for me. It had the necessary amenities. I thought it was priced right for what you got. I do have a complaint not only on this hotel but all hotels in cities. I feel that a guest should get complimentary parking

Better than the Sheraton

Staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant offered wide choice, the hotel was conveniently located close to major highways and points of interest. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Fine hotel

Fine hotel - convenient to hockey rink (especially) and downtown. Well-maintained and helpful staff. Be careful of the parking garage, however, it is not as well kept (but not owned by the hotel) and very difficult to get into on nights where events take place at the rink

We were headed to Pittsburgh to see a Penguins game, game time 1PM. Arrived at the hotel at 1130AM, check in time 3PM,but we inquired and we were able to check in. Got to out room, went down to th elounge with the rest of the Penguins fans, what a grat atmosphere. Later that night a van took us tothe paarts of Pittsburgh we wanted to see!! Great breakfast in the AM!

Best hotel for Mellon Arena

This is a very upscale hotel but no one seemed to mind the rowdy crowd before or after the game. I will stay here again if I’m going to the Arena.

Great Place to Stay in Pgh

Everything was great! Everything except the saunas in the gym were not operating. That was part of the reason i picked the hotel. The bed was so comfortable, i could have slept all day!

Stayed for AC/DC Concert

Hotel folks were very friendly and helpful, they gave excellent directions and info to ride the T, where to eat at Station Square. Valet service was extremely quick and they even cleaned my windows! My only complaint was the room was very cold when we arrived. The room had it’s own thermostat, but we could never get the room comfy temperature wise, it was either too hot or too cold. All in all, I’d recommend staying here, and look forward to staying again, and more than one night, just so I can take full advantage of other amenities of the hotel.

Traveler's tip on dining

Take the "T" Pittsburgh’s subway, to Station Square and dine at the restraunts there, or take in the excellent restraunt they have in the hotel. You need exact change, bring some quarters and dollar bills.

Great for Melon Arena access

Great for hockey games, otherwise I’d stay somewhere else. The room was clean, comfortable if a bit run down looking. The biggest issue was the food. I’ve never had such horrible food for high prices in my life. Room service or the restaurant.

Location not ideal; avoid the restaurant

The hotel was fine as a place to crash; however, it was not conveniently located to any of the attractions we wanted to see (incline, Station Square, Heinz Field, Carson St.) - we had to take taxis everywhere. Also, the service at the restaurant was absolutely horrendous.

Best Hotel in the burgh

I would have to say that the room was great, the service was excellent. But the bed I have never slept in a bed that was so comfortable that I wanted to take back home.Next time going to the burgh it will be at the Marriott

Traveler's tip

Hit Station Square for the nightlife, the Strip for your dining and definitely take the Incline to Mt Washington.Biggest attraction ....a Steelers home game

A fine place

We stayed at the Marriott City Center Pittsburgh and found it to be a fine place to stay. It was close to the Mellon Arena and convenient to downtown. The service was very good, and the hotel itself was in good condition.

Very expensive

Nice hotel, but the rates were very inflated. I was in town for INPEX, a large convention, so I understand why. I’m retired from the travel biz, so I just hate paying such high rates.

Good hotel but cleaning very slow

Hotel seems to be missing cleaning staff - the rooms were not cleaned until after 3pm which meant that our room was not ready by check-in time. Should also mention that everything in the neighborhood is closed on Sundays and Holidays - couldn’t find a restaurant open outside hotel.

Clean and comfy

We stayed two nights, and though we didnt spend much time at the hotel, it was very easy to find, the hotel was clean and comfortable, and staff were friendly and accomodating. There is also a wine bar/restaurant in the hotel, and a convenient Starbucks just across the lobby.

OK

Front desk knowledge was less than adequate.

Traveler's tip on dining

You MUST eat at the Grand Concourse. Absolutely fabulous atmosphere and food. Wait staff was very courteous. If you don’t eat there, just go to SEE the INSIDE of the restaurant after sunset. Interior architecture is incredible for such a boring exterior.

Would stay here again

We enjoyed our stay at the Marriott. It was easy to find and close to the highways. The only thing we did not like is you had to pay to park there. You are already paying to stay at the hotel - you should not have to pay add’l for using the parking garage at the hotel

Very nice rooms & friendly staff

Very nice rooms with extremely comfortable beds (lots of pillows!). Friendliest staff of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in! (It seemed the entire staff was trained by Disney or something!) Everyone greeted you hello and thanked you for being there. Our waitress at the breakfast buffet even went in the back to have french toast specially made for me because they ran out of it on the buffet and she knew that’s what I wanted. Now THAT’S service!

Traveler's tip

They have free internet service right at the front desk so you can check your flight status, gates or even check in online! Terrific!

Nice - but some chinks in the armor

Overall a very nice hotel. Minor complaint was housekeeping forgot to replenish the in-room coffee service, which would have been no big deal but I had to leave at 5 AM and there was nowhere to get coffee in the hotel. The room in general was clean but there was a distinct aroma in certain parts of the room that seemed to indicate a half-hearted cleaning job.

A review plus a hint

The hotel was easy to find and the staff was extrordinarily helpful. Fruit is waiting for you when you check in. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. They claim that there is a shuttle to take you within downtown Pittsburgh. This is true, however, it’s avaiability is not very good. The hotel is close to the mass transit system which was clean and easy to use. It is free within downtown, but costs $1.25 to go to Station Square.

Very nice would go again!

We went to 3 baseball games and hotel was very helpful as far as directions and what not. Breakfast buffet was nice but a little high price wise, but with nothing else walking distance had no other choice. Loved having a Starbucks on site though!
