Good value for a week’s stay
The Apollo is a good value at a great location in Utrecht. Had one of the executive rooms recently refurbished, and it was very nice. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, balcony on the street side but street noise was very low. No minibar makes this less than a four star hotel in my opinion, but very nice nonetheless. Staff was efficient and helpful, and everyone spoke English. The breakfast option is very expensive but there are good bakeries and breakfast spots all around the hotel. The 24-hour lounge had brewed-to-order free coffee at any hour and soft drinks at a reasonable charge. One internet station provided there free of charge, which was nice. We stayed a week to attend our daughter’s wedding and had a great stay.
The Dutch train system is unbeatable for punctuality and frequency of service.

No fridge, no return stay for me
Average hotel, I had a corner room that was quite big but nothing special. Only one computer in the lounge to use the internet. Small room safe, had to ask for key at front desk. No refrigerator, deal breaker for me. Close to downtown, fairly close to train station, about 5 minute walk.
Traveler's tip on shopping
Do not plan on going shopping on a Monday, hardly any stores are open until 13:00.

Comfy, convenient, but toasty
No A.C. in most of the rooms in this hotel, no free wireless, and the breakfast buffet was $23.80. But the room was nice, the free coffee was fresh ground, and 1 computer with internet was available in the coffee room. Convenient location, walking distance from Utrecht Centraal (train station), but tricky to find. Be careful with local maps--some are out of date.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Check out the street market in the plaza in front of the hotel. Wonderful fruits, herring, fresh fried fish, bread, and cheese, comparatively cheap for the EU.
