Good hotel for a reasonable cost
This small hotel is a few blocks away from the main train station, very convenient for train and bus travel. It is also next to the shopping/business district.

De La Paix Lucerne
Great hotel, great location, great breakfast (included), convenient parking next door (at the Lowen Center, hotel has a discounted rate), great city. On the down side, the standard rooms are a bit small and the rate is quite a bit high for my liking, but that’s the norm in Lucerne (and Switzerland in general). I recommend checking this hotel out, and I definitely recommend taking the time to walk over every inch of Lucerne- lots of terrific hidden sights.

Very pleasent
The hotel is a very pleasant place to stay, it is next to the old town area where no private vehicles are allowed and easy walking distance of most tourist sites. The breakfast was good. The room was ample and clean, with windows on two walls with small balconies. We were pleased with the room and would definitely go there again.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
My favorite attractions were the wall surrounding the city, the bridges, the old town, and the transportation museum.
