Fairwind Hotel & Suites

Right near the beach, boy!

What the fairwind lacks in amenities and general spic-and-span-ness, it more than makes up for in location, location, location. A block away from the beach, and around the corner from Mango’s, Wet Willies, and Fat Tuesday, the Fairwind has a central location that puts you in the middle of everything. There is even a scooter rental place around the block on 11th between Collins and Washington. The optional upgrade to a suite gives you a kitchenette area and a full size fridge, but don’t offer anything less sore on the eyes. Not that the hotel is in general disrepair, but sealing a few cracks and painting again wont hurt. The air conditioning was very adjustable, but the smoke detectors kept going off. It may have been a low battery or something. Hotel management, however, quickly rectified that situation. Overall, I definitely recommend this hotel. Parking is available in a lot across the street and meter parking is available for cars, and motorbikes, or motorscooters. And the Fairwind Tropical Bar and Grill right next door is an excellent jump off point for all the hanging out and drinking you’ll be doing during the day.

Traveler's tip

You are literally around the corner from anything you might need. Souvenirs on Washington, an assortment of diners and restaurants on Collins and Washington as well, shopping boutiques all over the place. Liquor store on 11th. Just walking around you’ll see how central this location is.

do not stay here

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. It’s a block from the beach and near many bars/restaurants. The room looked old, the hallways had a strange odor. The a/c was ok, barely keeping the room cool. The carpet had stains and looked like it needed to be vaccuumed. Stay away from this place.

I’ll be there next year!

It is in a great tlocation, the food is excellent and we always have a great time!
