Perfect place for out of town guests
We upgraded to a VERY large room with gorgeous views out of three sides of the room over the River Suir. Regular rooms are plenty large though. Basic spartan comfortable furniture. Lively bar and dining room - parties go on late most nights as far as we could tell. We ran into people in the halls at 6AM who were still up from the night before.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
The "Three Shippes" pub just down the street served good pub grub, and had a lovely Irish band on the Saturday night.

Hard to find, but good basic hotel
My wife and I stayed at the Waterford Marina hotel for one night in late September 2007 as part of a self-paced tour of Ireland. We arrived in Waterford in late afternoon/early evening, and Im glad it wasnt any later, because wed have never found the hotel in the dark. The listing says its on "Canada St", but since there are no road signs or hotel markers (until youre right on top of it), it can be a challenge. Check-in was very professional, if a bit cool. There is on-site parking, but its gated, and its not well marked (it looked closed when we got there). We did eat in the bar, and both the food and the service were excellent -- the bartender got the chef to create an adult sized portion of the bangers and mash listed on the kids menu. The room was very basic, and did not have individual heat/AC controls that we could find. Shower had excellent water pressure.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The tour at the Waterford Crystal Factory is excellent, and when we were there they offered a discounted exchange rate for those on the tour, and free shipping over a certain amount. Worth the trip! Waterford has a nice waterfront, but shopping is somewhat scarce until you get up on some of the back streets away from the water, and the stores close early. Theres also a nice river walk near the hotel.

OK
The hotel was perfectly fine, comfortable and clean. However, considering it was my most expensive night in my 12 days travelling in Ireland, I was hoping for something better for the money.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Other than the Waterford Crystal factory -- which was wonderful -- there did not seem to be much of interest in the town
