Poor Rooms and Overpriced
The rooms were little more than a bed, tv, and beanbag. No free coffee or breakfast was given. Air inside the room was not controllable. Got very cold at nights. When I asked for a space heater, I was brought something that looked like it came from the 1950’s and barely helped at all. No parking at all, so everyone had to be parked with valet. It did however, have an interesting club inside as well as a good restaurant. Great place to meet up with people, but would not recommend staying there.

Standard is still a nice place on Sunset
I have stayed at the Standard Hollywood Three times during the last four years. It is still a very nice hotel, it’s clean, nice rooms, friendly staff but the hipness factor has deteriorated a lot since my first stay. They have a horrible sunday afternoon pool party with very loud music all day and friday night can be a bit of a nightmare if you want to dine at the hotel. That said, if you need a nice hotel with a superb location, nice food, and a perfect view over LA then go for it...

A cool place with LOTS of improvements needed
Nice place, nice location BUT ability of hotel to serve ALL of your needs? Not quite. Meals are boring - very few options. Poolside closes at 10PM?!? How could you get the young people coming when your best hotel feature is too limited? WI-FI was also one of the biggest reasons I chose the place even while on a business trip and guess what? It went out for 3 full days!!! They should have reimbursed us for not providing that service for a long time. Totally disturbed my work flow. And yeah, the East elevator takes 5 seconds to open and 5 seconds to close. A modern hotel with a Jurassic elevator. Very irritating. Expected more considering the how prime the location is. But for the sake of staying in a cool and hip hotel, I’d still recommend. But that elevator still sucks big time.

Posted: 24-Jul-09I apologize for your less than satisfactory experience here at the Standard, Hollywood. Unfortunately our poolside hours are restricted by the city. We would love to accommodate all of our guests’ requests, but we must also abide by government guidelines. On weekends our poolside does stay open later, just not on weeknights. We are also currently increasing our Wifi capabilities to handle all of our guests increasing ’net’ use efficiently. I hope you will visit the Standard again, and look forward to making it a much better experience!
