won’t stay there again

I am not one to really give bad reviews. The room was generally clean., and the pool was nice. The problem was the hotel was very run down. Our blankets or bed covers had old cig. burns on them(we were in a nonsmoking room). The air conditioner/heater was the loudest thing I have ever heard. You could not just run the fan it would would turn on and off which was even worse as loud as it was. The breakfast was all carbs. If you wanted to just grab a peice of toast you would have been fine and it was free. No fruit. Basically cereal, oatmeal packets, muffins, and bread. Coffee was really good. The hotel was Ok. I think it is over priced. For a little more we could have stayed in the same area at many other hotels. I would Not stay here again.

Nice stay

I loved the location. The mall was right across the street and I had no problem finding restaurants and other convenience stores. I was traveling alone and felt very safe in the area. The hotel staff was very friendly. They even had free Wi-Fi! Overall, good experience.

There is a Marshalls and Burlington Coat Factory a few miles away from the hotel.

This is a very nice hotel, good for the value right near shopping and interstate access. It was clean, pleasant and loaded with nice ameneties.

Though there is a shopping mall across the street there isn’t a drug store within miles.

Chicago Gateway

I frequently stay at US30/I55 on my way into Chicago for a weekend. It saves an expensive night in a downtown hotel, but is a reasonable drive to the loop--get there by mid-morning & have a full Sat. in the city. This is an excellent hotel at that intersection in terms of both comfort & price.

Love Super 8s but not this one.....

One of the reason I chose the hotel was the fact they had in room wireless WI FI. However I could never get on line. I called the desk at 11PM and the female clerk said she would look into it and call me back. THEY NEVER DID...At 2AM I called again and a male desk person said he would check on it and call me back. I fell asleep at the phone waiting for the phone call which never came. At 5am I called again and it was suggested I come down to the lobby that "sometimes that works"...It didn’t. I ended up traveling 7 miles to a truck stop with WI FI and finished my preperations for my presentation just prior to having to present it. When I got back at later in the morning the WI FI was working. I was insulted by being told there was nothing wrong with it and must have been my computer. The only nearby WIFI’s were from a Borders Bookstore and a Bread Company almost two blocks away but their signals were weak. I rarely have problems with Super 8 and use them all the time, but not this one, ever, ever again.

The room smelled really funny; I don’t know why. Everything seemed clean enough, but just very old.

Filth

The room itself was missing the glass table that goes in the microwave and had an area of cigerette ashes that appranently never got cleaned. We were the first ones to the pool when they opened shortly after 6am- and we noted 5 bandaids on the floor! I mentioned the microwave and the swimming pool condition to the check out person and they lied to me and said "Oh, kids were in the pool this morning" - wrong we were the first ones there which means the cleaning in between use either didn’t happen or was poorly done. Our complaint yeilded no discount and it should have- they apprantly don’t care about keeping customers. If you planning on using this hotel for a trip to Chicago- don’t- it’s 35 miles away- yikes!

Not as expected

This hotel is making a valiant effort but it definintelty worn down. There were groups of youth using the pool and jacuzzi even late in the evening so there was no peace for adults to use the facilities. It seemed short-staffed for the number of guests. And it is quite a ways off the beaten track.

Thin Walls

OK for a quick stay, Positives: room was clean and cleaning staff friendly, parking well lit. Negatives, Smokey smell in all areas, and guest were noisy. Staff did quiet them down upon request.

Too Expensive

The whole hotel was stinking. Too expensive for the service provided. Wont go to Super 8 again

Great location--worth the short commute to Chicago

The location was great--right off the highway with lots of food and shopping (w/o the Chicago prices). The staff was helpful. With the hotel ammenities, you get a lot for your money. Indoor pool was nice and clean.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Staying a little out of Chicago gave me more money in my travel budget for other frills.
