Victim of the Economy

Port Lucaya Yacht Club and Resort closed on 8/9/09, four days after checkout. Because of the impending closure, some amenities were closed and there was a good deal of disrepair and dusty furniture.

Traveler's tip on dining

"The After Deck" has great food, reasonable prices and a fantastic staff. "Zorba’s" has a good, inexpensive breakfast, but only so-so Greek food (but I’m spoiled, having lived in Astoria). "Pisces" has seafood curries to die for!

Disappointed

The photos looked great in the add but I think they must be 20 years old. Check in was easy but a long walk to my room when you are carrying your own bags. Room was very average but the view of the Marina is nice. Found a few roaches running in the room at night when you would turn the lights on and surprise them. TV remote didn’t work, bed was a bit uncomfortable. Traveling on busines I needed internet access but they don’t have internet, not even on a lobby computer. Fortunately there is an internet cafe within walking distance. For a while I thought I may be the only guest but I eventually saw that at least one other room was occupied. I was disappointed in the morning when I went looking for coffee in the lobby or maybe a free breakfast but none was to be found. I had to walk into the shopping village to find someone serving coffee.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

It is convienent to the Lucaya shopping and the price is reasonable for the room but it should be for what they offer (which isn’t much.)

Good Value

For the price, this hotel works well. There were lots of Spring Breakers there, so it definitely had a frat house feel while we were there, but the rooms were clean and comfortable with a refrigerator and microwave. Location is the best - right by the marketplace. Housekeeping came late every day (5pm), but did a fine job when they showed up. It isn’t luxurious, but that’s okay. The resort across the street looked more swanky and relxed, but I’m sure that comes at a price.
