In the heart of Sydney

Location was terrific - right in the heart of downtown Sydney. We were within walking distance of lots of the visitor attractions. Bus, subway and ferries were easily accessible. The conceirge staff were terrific at helping us find our way around. Having a car would have been difficult (they drive on the other side of the road) and expensive but public transportation was very easy. Underneath the hotel is a mall with a large food court, which was a convenient, quick and reasonable place to get meals. The hotel rooms were well maintained and attractive.

Great location & clean modern facilities

Very clean and modern facilities. Hotel is on 8th floor and above in the building with stores below. The very bottom level has a nice food court with wide range of international cuisine. Friendly & efficient staff.

The location has easy access to the train from Sydney airport (use Town Hall station & walk through the QVB mall). Short walking distance to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour and other harbourfront restaurants and shopping. Look up multiple-day passes on Sydney’s train/bus/ferry transports to save time and money.

Location Location it was the best for Sydney

Love the location it was smack dab in the middle of Sydney Australia. Walking distance to Darlin Bay, The Rocks and the Botanical Garden. The hotel accommodations are good. I would stay there again. The only thing I did not like is that we had to wait to get our room and as others walked up to the checking desk to go straight to there rooms this was after I called and asked for a early check in. This gets to you after the 17hr flight.

Nice, not as fancy as I thought it would be, but very nice. Food from room service was wonderful but expensive.

Excellent service, comfy and great location

We stayed for a week and loved it. Staff was extremely courtous. Hotel is in the heart of it all, but not noisy. We got the room facing a construction and upon request they tranfered us to a different room immediately, no frowning at all. Room was very spacious, big bright gorgeous bathroom (tub and shower). We mostly ate out, but had lunch one day (mouth watering steak with lihgt side salad..Perfect! I think it was under 20$) Anyways, the best part was concierge. We loved the guy. He was like a maestro conducting an orchestra. He made sure we make it to our tours, called around to check this and that, sent us to best places to eat - he was just funny and on top of it... They should give him raise..

Sydney Vacation

Wouldn’t recommmend this hotel if you are on vacation. Was within walking distance of Darling Harbour, but not one person at this Hotel said one word to us the entire stay. They are very upperclass and we felt out of place even though the hotel was cheaper than most. I just didn’t feel comfortable there and the rooms were ok, clean, but less than expected.

Will Stay Their Again

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were professional and very helpful and pretty much took care of everything that you asked them to, even at 3:OO AM in the morning. Everything around the hotel is very clean and tidy. My room was average, but had plenty of light and my bed was firm - which is what I like. Tried to use their internet but found it to be expensive so I used the free wireless at McDonald’s just one block down from the hotel. Could not have hoped for a better location, the park and the pier were both 15 minutes walking distance. Good collection of restaurants malls shopping centers all around. Felt safe even at 2:00 AM in the morning. The GYM could have been bigger but the pool was a delight to swim in. I strongly recommend this place.

Would recommend... Good place to stay and see the city

It was a great place to stay. Very centrally located. For the most part people who work there were very nice. If you are looking to stay in Sydney I would recommend this hotel.

Great location for the price

We enjoyed this stay, 9 nights. Hotel was booked for a low price and the staff even upgraded us for free to the executive room since our stay was long. Right in the heart of Sydney, next to the needle tower and QVB shopping, 5-10 minutes walk to Darling Harbour, 20-30 minutes walk to Circular Quay and the Opera house. Restaurants and bars all over the place. Museums, most local attractions, and Chinatown all within walking distance if you are fit enough. Staff and concierge very helpful. A great lunch deal at the JPB restaurant in the hotel. Beautiful steak with a side and a glass of wine, $19 AUD. Rooms are good, bathrooms updated but rooms do need a little more updating but can’t complain. Little bit of noise from renovations going on for the westfield mall under the tower.

Central and excellent

This was my first stay at a Swissotel and I was highly impressed. The rooms were excellent and the staff very helpful. although they are not in as many places as the big hotel chains, I will be looking for swissotel as my first preference on future trips

What a nice experience!!

The Swissotel in Sydney is in a great location in the CBD. Close or within walking distance, train or monorail to great shopping, sigh seeing and restaurants--everything that you would want to do. very nice room, friendly and helpful staff(since we were from the States) just a good experience all the way around.

Good Central Location

My son and I had a great stay at Swissotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We had a view of the rooftop pool and everything in the room worked (not always the case when you have such a reasonable rate). The staff was very helpful and willing to provide current converters on request. The concierge staff was always willing to help set up a trip or give directions. We did not try the hotel restaurant since it seemed a little pricy and because there were so many other options in the neighborhood. Great location, in walking distance to Darling Harbor and the Quay. Our only problem was that the room keys needed to be reset almost daily (the staff said that some of the local malls had some sort of magnetic system that would wipe the keys), but overall we were very happy. While its ambiance had more of a business feel, my 14 year old still had a great time. The unheated pool, while chilly for me, was great for him and I enjoyed the heated whirlpool.

Not Impressed

we stayed at the swissotel because it was expedia’s number one pick! our comforters were worn and stained, buffet breakfast was very expensive and not very good. The furniture in the lobby bar was worn and dirty looking. we had asked for early check in which appeared to be no problem (8:00am) until we checked out and were billed for an entire overnight stay.

Great hotel, conventiently located, but forget about internet

I stayed here for 2 nights after arriving on a cruise ship. I checked in about 1pm, my room was ready, although small it made good use of the space. Good flatscreen tv with a large selection of channels to watch, big bathroom and good water pressure/temperature. Nice towels, good lighting. The bed was firm, but still comfortable, although I would prefer a quilt which hung lower over the end of the bed (when I curled up my feet got exposed). My room faced over a construction site, but it never bothered me, and the noise wasn’t too early or late. My only quibble is the cost of wireless internet access in the hotel. $10/hr, $30/day or $100/week (from memory) is RIDICULOUS for anywhere. I would expect to MAYBE pay $8-$10 for a few days. Instead, I suggest you take your laptop, walk up Pitt Street to McDonalds, buy yourself an apple juice and go upstairs and use their free connection (there’s some power plugs around the place too).

Internet - go to McDonalds up the road and use their free service. Or, there are numerous cafes around the place with free wifi connections.

This hotel was acceptable

This was an acceptable hotel. The room was small by usuall standards. The major disappaointment with the hotel was the fitness room. It was small. The free weights were inadequate. There were only a few cardio machines. A hotel of this quality should have a better fitness room.

Great Location

Hard to beat the location. Close to train and monorail stations, parks, ferries, etc. We walked everywhere we wanted to go. Only downside to this hotel was the construction going on next door. Did not enjoy waking up each morning to jackhammers, etc. Otherwise would be a 5 for me. Maybe when the construction is over...

Really enjoyed the 5’ tub, all was comfy and clean. Staff was helpful and very professional.

Boring

good value for money , but ripping guest of on parking 42 $ and internet 24 $ ridiculous. No bar no entertainment Hilton Bar close by is great

Would go back to this hotel anytime

Clean and comfy, great view from the window. Staff was extremly helpful in our wants and needs. Easy access to public transportation and shopping.

We enjoyed hotel’s location, the spacious, quiet, immaculate room, the gracious service, and the wonderful cafe that is connected to the hotel (wonderful cappacinos!)

Sydney was GREAT, Hotel was OK

The Swissotel was in a great location and is why we chose it. We walked everywhere while staying here and the location was very central. The service here was good but not excellent. We ordered room service twice and were not impressed with the food. I also did not find the bed very comfortable. The positives: We loved that the turn down service included candy (Tolberone) and water bottles each night. Also loved the in room espresso maker, I was addicted! We would stay here again if we got a good deal. Otherwise, might try something new but in the same location.

Definitely try the Opera House Bar...it is located outside on the lower level. It has great views of the harbor and is a lovely place for a drink or dinner.
