Not impressed

All in all, we were not impressed with this hotel. The only real advantages of staying there were its price, and its proximity to the airport and food/recreation. The service was its greatest downfall. Hotel management was reluctant to answer requests. Our room was not scheduled for cleaning for 5 days, and on the scheduled day, the job didn’t get done. Lame excuses were offered. There were no brooms, vacuum cleaners, etc in the room and when such items were requested, the request was either ignored or slow to be filled. The bed sheets did not fit the bed, the alarm clock did not alarm, the toilet clogged often and I ended up taking my own trash to the dumpster behind the hotel. If you have no kids and are staying for a day or two, the place is acceptable and quiet. If you are a family planning for a prolonged stay and enjoy modest, decent service, look elsewhere. If you do decide to stay there, keep your expectations low and prepare to fend for yourself.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The place is close to restaurants, beaches and other family oriented attractions. Lido beach is a 10-minute drive, miniature golf is 5 minutes up the 41 in either direction, and a host of eating places are nearby, including a great Sonic drive-in where young ladies on skates bring you drinks and burgers.

Good deal for the money

This was your basic extended stay hotel. Friendly staff, clean room, nice pool, and quiet guests. I would stay there again because the price was lower than any of the equivalent competitors. Only negative was that it was a smoking room, the only one left, and smelled like it.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Don’t miss the Ringling Museum 5 minutes away. World class art works.

Very disappointed

Between checking into my room on a Thursday and checking out on Sunday (a day early), I encountered the following problems: (1) tv remote with no batteries. After receiving the batteries, I still had to program the remote to the tv set; (2) no iron and board in room. I requested one from the clerk, who said he would contact me when one became available. I never got an iron during my stay; (3) a dirty towel and a wash cloth with two long hair strands on the rack; (4)both bathroom sink and bathtub drains were partially clogged; (5) the room door would NOT locked unless I inserted/removed the key then jiggled the handle (I was instructed by the front desk clerk); and (6) the final straw - two roaches found on bathroom sink. I endured all of that because I was very close to my destinations and I couldn’t afford anything else available nearby, at the time. Got out of there as soon as I could.
