Although this was at least 30 minutes outside of Munich, it was right off the Autobahn. Quiet...fabuous restaurant in the facility...excellent service...nice neighborhood...grocery store and several bakeries in walking distance...we had a two room suite that more than met our expectations

the hotel was a bit farther from the bahnhof than I thought, kind of a chore to find. and they didn’t tell us they charged us for breakfast until we checked out. but the room was very nice. a kitchenette, bathrobes, and a balcony. best price we could find around munich for Oktoberfest, easy train ride into town

Good hotel for a good price, but a little far away from Munich

I was surprised when I booked the hotel how cheap was it, and I didn’t expected anything good. When I arrived the impression was pretty good, good service, good furniture, and the rooms were pretty good and clean. Furthermore the restaurant was excellent, quite expensive (as the whole bayern area) but was one of the best meals I had in Germany, I totally recommend it.

Great Place to Stay

Golden Tulip Olymp is a great place to stay...comfortable and affordable. Using the S-Bahn train (a 10 - 15 minute walk from the hotel), it’s 10 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from Munich. The breakfast buffet was very good and consisted of typical german breakfast fare. An organic food store is across the street and a "regular" grocery store is located two blocks away. Since my room had a small kitchen, I was able to eat some meals in my room. My ONLY complaint was that my bedroom was right next the stairwell so I could hear other guests coming so sometimes didn’t sleep the best. I loved Munich and want to come back next year. And I plan on staying at the Golden Tulip again!

I took a taxi from the airport to the hotel..$35 euros, including tip. To find the station from the hotel, take a left on the Paul-Kaismaier Strabe (busy road that runs parallel to hotel, on northeast side) and walk several blocks until you get to the Rewe store. Take paved walkway on right side of store and then take a left at the t-junction. Station is straight ahead.

Perfect for family

I didn’t know when we booked two rooms that they would both be family sized, so we were thrilled to show up and find that each of the rooms had a separate bedroom and then a pull out couch in the living area. They were a little on the old and shabby side, but as we had three kids under six with us, the space worked perfectly, and was the perfect location to do all of the things that we came to do,(Legoland was a little over an hour away on the autobahn, and Salzburg and Fusen were both less than two hours away.) I will note that we had a car, and as the hotel was a little ways out of the city, it may be a problematic for those planning to take public transit.

The indoor pool is closed until sometime in September or October of 09, so if that is a big deal for you, you may want to call and check with the hotel.

Beautiful!

The rooms were spacious, gorgeous, and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The small town of Eching was charming with easy access to the train station.

Walk to Eching Lake! It is lovely!

Great hotel

This is an excellent hotel. The desk staff speaks English, they let us check in early, they cleaned the room nicely, the bed was comfortable, there was a lot of room in the room and bathroom and it was quiet. I couldn’t hear neighbors or any traffic on the street. It’s in a small town, which I like. Very close to a Rewe, Penny Markt and the S-Bahn. The only negatives I could think of if I had to is that the water temperature in the shower would get really cold for a couple seconds sometimes and the breakfast is not worth the price.

Wonderful place to stay

We spent two nights at the Golden Tulip and were extremely satisfied. It was very spacious and clean and not too far outside Munich. The hotel restaurant was wonderful ... it was one of our favorite meals in our two weeks of traveling in Europe. We highly recommend the Golden Tulip.

Amazing value

What an amazing hotel - we paid amazingly cheap rates for a large (by European standards) apartment with lots of storage space (we had ~100 lbs of luggage for 2 weeks), a separate bedroom and a stocked kitchenette with a cooktop, small fridge and and sink. This made eating very affordable as we ate at ’home’ quite frequently. The hotel room was bright and clean. There are grocery stores, bakeries, pharmacists, etc. all within walking distance, as this was nestled in a residential neighbourhood -- which is our preference over more touristy areas. The restaurant had great food, but is upscale and therfore quite expensive. The hotel is 15-20 minutes from the Airport, and is extremely close to the highway, so if you have a car everything is extremely accessible. I would stay there again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

This is echoed I believe by other travelers, but eating in is easy with the kitchenette. Grocery stores and bakeries are extremely close by. There is pub and nice ice-cream place nearby as well. A short drive will take you to an excellent Greek restaurant called Dionysis, and IKEA is not too far off either :-) If you are travelling into Munich, be aware of rush hour traffic and lots of construction on the ring.

Very nice

Very nice hotel. Desk staff speaks English. Within walking distance of S-Bahn train station (10 minutes). Rooms slightly small, but well-appointed. Pillow and sheets small & very soft.

Nice but out of the way.

This is a great little hotel but on a noisey street. I only recommend it if you have a car or are just needing a place to stay before your flight. Great germany restuarant about one block south of hotel. Hotel is hard to find. I’ll give directions from the airport. Once you depart the subway, go under the tracks and on the other side you will see a paved path. Go left, follow that until you come to the over pass

Traveler's tip

the road that recreates the over pass is the road the hotel is on. Turn left at the over pass on the paved path. You’ll get off the path at the grocery store. Follow the main road for about 1/2 a mile. You will come across a major intersectioin. Hotel will sit on the right handside of that intersection.

Worked well flying out of Munich Early

The hotel has a nice underground car park and the location is close to the airport. I had dined in the restaurant attached and had a great dinner with very good service.

Could have been better

The hotel itself was wonderful, however, getting there was a different story. Due to numerous weather travel delays, we finally got off the train at Eching around 1am. I am assuming because of the time, there were no cabs around, as stated on the hotel’s website. I was not worried because I had gone to the hotel’s website and printed out directions to get to the hotel. When I started looking at the map, there was not one single street name that corresponded with any street name on the map. Thank goodness, I thought, there was a pay phone not far from the train station. I called the hotel and told the man where I was and that I needed directions to the hotel. He could only tell me directions and did not know one single street name! Needless to say, after 2 hours of walking the streets, we finally arrived at the hotel (only 700 meters away). I am unable to tell you much about the hotel, because I only got to stay there for 3 1/2 hours before I had to head to the airport.

Great place for the price

I traveled with both kids and we ve had the pleasant surprise to have a bed for everyone and a small kitchen inside. we ve had fun in pool and sauna.

Safe, clean and comfortable

The only drawback to this hotel is that it is a 30 min train ride into the heart of Munich. If you don’t mind traveling, it’s very nice. The station is also a 10 min walk. The only reason I gave it 4 stars on the comfort was that the down pillows were VERY soft with no head support. This is a great family hotel, they had a nice new pack n play for our son to sleep in with a little pillow and comforter of his own and they gave us packs of gummy bears everyday. There was also a grocery store right across the street where we bought breakfast in the a.m. which was very reasonable. And the restaurant located near the grocery store was AWESOME! The restaurant in the hotel was VERY expensive.

Overall a great place to stay

The hotel was great. The front desk staff was able to get us in our room early for a well needed rest after our flight. The breakfast was good but overpriced. There is a modern organic grocery store next door that has excellent stuff for breakfast.

There is a wonderful Greek restaurant down the road (Dionysos) with great food and extremely friendly staff.

Good value close to Munich airport

Comfortable, large room. very convinient to Munich Airport. 10 minute walk from Hotel to station. Frequent trains to Airport. My room was on the ground floor facing the street. You defenitely hear the cars passing-by. A bit of a nuiesance, so if you are sensative beware.

Charming and relatively inexpensive

The roooms were small but clean, comfortable, and themed. Our room had pillars and a Roman theme...which I guess goes with the Olymp name. Our friends were in a room on the 3rd floor, which was like an attic room with sloped ceilings...very cool with a great view. The price was way better than any other airport area hotel. Booking through Expedia in the US was about half the price that was listed in their hotel rooms. There were a couple of restaurants within walking distance. And a healthfood store right accross the street...which was great since Germany is not very Vegetarian-friendly. I would definitely stay in this hotel again and possibly others in the chain.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

We nearly stayed at a hotel that was twice the price so we could have air-conditioning, but we were glad we didn’t. It was very cool in Germany, even in July. It was even too cool to sleep with the window open.

Very nice stay

We liked the Golden Tulip very much. I would highly recommend it to someone that doesn’t want to stay in Munich and save some money. The train station is about a 10 minute walk(we walked all hours of the day and night with NO issues). There’s a grocery store down the street. The breakfast buffet is a bit pricey so watch that...but it was extremely nice. Very easy access to autobaun from hotel.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Make sure to tell them your either having the buffet each day or not when checking in. They will bill you for each day even if you don’t eat if you don’t tell them. Better not to be surprised when checking out.

I would defenetly stay here again. Beautifull, confortable, one of the nicest rooms we stayed at in Europe. A five star room for much less money.Very affordable. Close to the airport. If you are driving this is the place to stay in Munich.

Very Nice

We needed an hotel close to the Munich Airport and this place was nice and the price was great. The huge breakfast was a great send off to the airport.
