Easy walk to Circular Quay
Friendly, accommodating staff. Arrived from LAX 7:00am flight and was allowed early check-in, which was wonderful after the 14 hour flight. Location convenient. Train station around the corner, but only took from airport to hotel due to able to walk everywhere. Neice living in Sydney for college semester abroad, agreed location easily accessible to most attractions in Sydney. Room clean and as requested. Would definitely stay again.

Positive surprise
Great hotel right in the heart of Sydneys BCD. Bright rooms, fresh decor and excellent room service for comparably little money.

Nice place
Nice place, centrally located. You can walk to Circular Quay, the Rocks, and the Opera House. We were lucky to get it for a good discounted rate.

Impersonal
This is a stylishly decorated hotel at the margin of the Rocks area -- there really arent good restaurants in the surrounding area, so its less than ideal. The bathroom was elegant, but the room carpet badly needed replacing, and the bed was surprisingly mediocre for a hotel of this quality. It was nice, but not particularly memorable. I did get immediate service when I had a problem with the TV.

Outstanding hotel, location, value...
We originally went to the Menzies and it was horrid. Although the service at Menzies was good, the rooms were awful. The Amora provided 5 star service (at least as good or better than when we stayed at the Four Seasons or Shangri-La) and although the rooms werent quite to that level, it was every bit of 4+ star quality. The location is great as well, it is within walking distance to everything from Chinatown to Darling Harbor, to Circular Quay. Stayed here around 10 days and it was wonderful...

Good value but need to pay Internet use
if you want to use internet, you need to pay at least 10 AU. I just dont know why it should be so expensive.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
you can walk to Wynyard Station or Sydney Quay Station to go out.

Good location, but lousy housekeeping
Hair on towels upon check in. Needed to exchange bath towels twice during my 5 nights stay. Wanted to have my bed sheets change on the 3rd. night. Request card was clearly placed on top of the pillow, but sheets and pillow cases were not changed. Their Concierges were helpful, knowledgeable, and Bellboys were wonderful too.

Nice Location
The hotel was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The pool is a bit small but still good for a simple workout. The location was central for easy walking to interesting sights about the city. If Im ever in Sydney again, I would most definitely stay at this hotel.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Take the subway train from the airport to the hotel (Wynyard stop) rather than the taxi. Its less expensive and faster.

Perfect service, perfect location
My sister & I spent 2 nights here at the end of March and it exceeded expectations. The greeting, front desk and bell staff were unfailingly polite and remembered us when we returned in the evening from a day of sightseeing. Our room was not ready when we arrived at 10 am so we were directed to the 3rd floor, where there is a wonderfully comfortable changing room in the pool/spa area. The hotel is about 3 blocks from the Rocks market area and Harbor Bridge; the whole harbour walking area from the opera house to Darling Harbor & the aquarium, etc. are easily accessible. One thing we discovered too late to help us was that some of the outlets have dimmer switches, which made it appear that our voltage converter did not work so we could charge our camera batteries. Once we plugged things in at different outlets they worked. It was not as obvious as it sounds to see the dimmers! We did not have a chance to use the pool or spa but they looked beautiful. The Wynyard train station is about a block from the hotel and it will take you directly to the airport. All in all we would go back to the Amora if we ever find ourselves in Sydney again.
Tumbalong Park is on the south end of Darling Harbor and it is spectacular for kids. A nice change of pace from museums and restaurant behavior in a large city. It is a huge playground with unique play areas and climbing toys. We never would have known about it if we hadnt walked past it.

Great place, would definitely stay again
Great proximity to both the Rocks and the downtown area. We walked pretty much everywhere from the hotel, which was quiet but quite luxurious. Excellent room, especially considering the great rate! My only (very slight) complaint is that there was no lock on the bathroom door, but that might just be a cultural thing. Otherwise, the bed was very comfortable, and the curtains were blackout, which is pretty much necessary for us jet-lagged customers. :)
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Go on the water. This is not an option, you must see Sydney from a boat. Taking a boat from Circular Quay is just a few dollars, and it is well worth it.

Well-located, good value in CBD.
We stayed on the club level in a Jamison suite that was very roomy and comfortable with a beautiful city view. Breakfast in the Jamison Club was excellent. Staff was very cordial and attentive, particularly in the Club. Conveniently located about a 10 min. walk to harbor. Fairly priced given amenities. Would definitely return.

Avid traveller and walker
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. Not only is it affordable, you are able to enjoy what Sydney has to offer within walking distance to different modes of transportation. A 5-10 minute walk to Circular Quay. You are able to catch a bus, taxi, ferry, or rail to your any destination of your choosing.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Book yourself a tour to the Blue Mountains. And if you get the chance, do the Sydney Bridge Climb. Both activities are well worth it.

Excellent, centrally located hotel
Found this hotel on Expedia. The reviews were favorable and the location and price were what I was looking for. Brought my wife to Sydney for a week to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and this hotel was excellent for us. When checking in we mentioned the special occasion for our visit and we were upgraded at no additional cost. Reasonably priced eating establishments are nearby.
Traveler's tip
For transportation around Sydney I recommend getting a weekly Green TravelPass for about AUD$47 which allows you to take any train, bus or ferry to basically any location in Sydney youll want to visit.

Fabulous Indulgence!
The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. The room was beautiful and spotless, the bathroom (and tub) even better. We liked the location, a quick walk to Circular Quay and The Rocks. Well worth a splurge.

Fantastic hotel, sensible prices
Extremely satisfied with this hotel. Great location just 5 minutes from Circular Quay, huge rooms (and bathrooms) with all facilities and comfortable beds. Only drawbacks were expensive internet (AUD 25 for a day) and a rather bland collection of TV channels (but you are not in Sydney to watch TV, are you? :-).

Great location
I have stayed at this hotel a number of times, and it seems to have improved in terms of service and general maintenance. The location is great--walking distance to Circular Quay, downtown, and Darling Harbour. Comfortable beds, reasonably large rooms, very clean. I recommend the executive level, which includes free internet, higher floors (less traffic noise) and access to the lounge, which features good evening canapes and drinks, and a good, if basic, breakfast.

Great location at a convinient price...
The location of the hotel is great! Walking distance from the Rocks and the Opera. The infrastructure seems new. We stayed in a corner room, that was really big (not normal for Sydney) at a very competitive price... Definitely recomended!

Great location, service and price
The Amora Hotel Jamison is centrally located for tourists and business travellers alike, and is more reasonably priced than many others nearby. All of the major tourist spots/ferries were in easy walking distance, and there was affordable and good food close by. The only issue was a delay at check in re our room, and several others had the same problem. Once that was taken care of, we had a wonderful time during our stay in September and October 2007. The concierge desk was very helpful, though they were not always familiar with all of the tourist destinations. I especially recommend Buster, as he was not only helpful and cheerful, but he also remembered us each day and asked how we liked the various activities. I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone interested in staying in the Syndey CBD.
