The Nara Hotel is ideally located, close to the park and old town, and very stylish.

Classy Nara Hotel
Great location for sightseeing in Nara, everything but the train station within easy walking distance. The Hotel had an excellent but somewhat pricey restaurant, and the rooms in the "old" part of the hotel are small but well appointed with high ceilings. Our daughter had a room in the new wing, and while the rooms there are well done, not much to distinguish it from any other modern deluxe hotel.
Traveler's tip on dining
Ask concierge for the little sushi restaurant two blocks away, has three tables and the best sushi in the area.

Snobby
Attitude of nose in air. Restaurants and services in hotel are way overprised and no fun. Eat and go elsewhere. Pretty location, but a bit far to walk to business area and attractions. Nice rooms in new wing, but a long walk from lobby and entrance.
