recommendation

the hotel was clean and staff friendly. Room was spacious, but the beds were okay (not the best of mattresses and pillows). All in All it was not a bad experience.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Must see the Interpretive center and eat at Geiser Hotel, Prime rib to die for and you will not leave hungry. Also try the Sumpter Junction Family restaurant. The food is wonderful and they have a model train that goes through the restaurant.

If you have to go to Baker City, stay somewhere else!

While none of the service staff were unpleasant, I was not impressed with the quality of the room. The key wouldn’t work in the door, so I had to have someone come let me in every time I left the room. Instead of just moving me to another room, there was no concern about inconveniencing me after a long, tiring day of travel. While the room appeared clean, one of the beds’ sheets weren’t clean--hair and other ’detritus’ visible. The toilet kept running after flushing, requiring lifting the lid off and manually making the flapper close. Noisy fridge. I basically didn’t sleep because I was so uncomfortable with the room. The continental breakfast wasn’t terrible though!

good location

easy freeway access and short drive to the main st. and or the oregon trail center

Traveler's tip on shopping

make sure you take the short drive to downtown, and visit the shops. Walk main street and discover the old with the new.

Usually not my first motel pick, but this was very nice!

Desk reception, room cleanliness, & quietness were all excellent. I particularly liked the pillows. Most motels think fatter is better. These were not very thick, and I liked that. (Doesn’t take much, I guess, to please me), but this made a difference.

Not impressed.

Baker City is a great small town. The Super 8 is not the place to stay when you are in Baker City.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Anthony Lake’s is a great place to ski, very dry power, lots of snow, and no lines.

very disappointed

Driving into the hotel there were weeds and the parking lot was dirty. The lobby and kitchen area had a bad smell. The rooms were clean, but the maids did not tidy up the rooms the second day. The beds were made, but there was no replacment coffee or soap. The rooms had not been vacumed very well. Very dissapointed.

Well worth the very moderate price.

Stayed both going and coming back on SLC-Tacoma trip. Exceptionally convenient to I’state. Nice, competent staff, clean room, cable, A/C works, pool & hot tub, light breakfast, good coffee. What more does someone need for an "ovenight?" :-)

Traveler's tip on dining

Skip the "big sign" places & go all the way west on Campbell to old US 30, & turn right one block to best food in town. Plain, small town cafe w/ good, not overpriced, food, where locals crowd in.

Wonderful!

We just returned from a vacation that consisted of 8 hotels in 10 days and this was, by far, the best! Clean, spacious rooms, and friendly service. I would definately stay here again!

Met the needs

Nothing fancy but met the needs. Staff was exceedingly helpful. And like that there were plenty of towels in room.
