A little warm in Mammoth in July

I have stayed at Mammoth a few times now, and no place I have stayed has air conditioning. Even though it gets nice in the evenings, the rooms don’t really cool down as most do not have any cross air-flow. Just a window or maybe a window and a door if you’re lucky. This hotel just had a window you could open. Definitely do not get stuck with a room on the west side of the hotel, those are way too hot. Except for temperature, the hotel was fine. Front desk clerk was very kind and even put on a pot of coffee for us extra-early as we had to get going before their continental breakfast began. I would probably rather stay there when it gets down to at least 40 at night so you might get 70 in the rooms!

Everything was great except the bed.

The room was large and roomy with a heater, free wireless internet, a fridge, microwave, lots of cable channels, and it was clean. The staff was super nice and helpful. Everything was perfect except for the bed. It was really uncomfortable and my neck felt stiff the whole weekend. Another thought, the heater takes awhile to warm up so don’t put it all the way up or you’ll wake up in the middle of the night sweating like crazy.

Decent Mammoth Lodging

Rooms were nice, bigger than expected. I like the opening to the room with a lot of space to put your snow gear. Also like the extra sink and mirror within the room also, great for multiple guests. The lockers available down stairs for your hardgoods are nice too, it’s cleaner than taking them upstairs and keeps it safely secured over night. Covered parking was also a plus, especially since it snowed over night on our trip. It’s right next to a decent restaurant with a lively bar.

Traveler's tip

To get to the mountain or the village area, there’s a tram stop that’s free and runs most hours of the day. Take advantage of it, safer than driving if you’re a towny not familiar with snow driving.

Great place to stay

This lodge was perfect for my stay around the Sierra and Yosemite area. Close enough to Yosemite, in a lovely small town, and in a beautiful area. The lodge was clean and comfy with helpful staff recommendations for restaurants. Not a flashy place, but great for summer hikers and winter skiers who come home tired; it has a great outdoors atmosphere -- and a hot tub! Great...

Traveler's tip on dining

Angel’s restaurant next door, John’s Pizza across the road, and Roberto’s Mexican place at the other of town are all highly recommended!

Good for one night

The hotel was our one night stop only to go to Yosemite. The room itself was ok. Nevertheless a general reconstruction of the hotel would be recommended. So the price was not matching the overalll quality. It was definately too high. The yard containing also the hot tub was a little bit dirty.

Comfortable

This was a nice place to stay. Comfortable and cozy. Staff was very helpful. It’s a stones throw away from a very nice restaurant.

Great inexpensive hotel for a trip thru Mammoth. Nice hot tub and indoor covered parking. Would stay again for a trip thru Mammoth.

Nice place

This was a really pretty hostel and was great value for what we paid with breakfast included. The only fault was the shower didn’t drain properly so you were nearly having a bath by the end! Good service.

A lot for the money

Nice big, clean rooms. Decent free continental breakfast. No elevator. Stairwells need to have carpets cleaned. Courteous staff.

Great for ski/snowboard trips

Hotel was "older" but kept in pretty good shape and the front desk staff was great. The room was well set up for snow vacationers with plenty of storage and room to get "suited up." The only drawback was that the continental breakfast pretty much paled in comparison to most others in the area.

Convenient Location

Hotel was clean and well maintained. Convenient location on Main St for restaurants and other activities in Mammoth.
