Perfect Choice for Palm Cove
Sebel Reef House is located just off the beach in the center of the Palm Cove shops and restaurants. The food at the Palm Cove restaurant was some of the best we had in Palm Cove and the view from the deck is unbeatable. The food is expensive, but in-line with the area. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. We would definitely stay here again.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Palm Cove is perfectly situated between Cairns and Port Douglas for trips to the barrier reef, the Daintree rainforest, and Kuranda. The location offers a nice escape from all of the crowds after long days of excursions. Plenty of restaurants to choose from as well.

Nicest place to stay in Palm Cove
Our verandah room on the first floor (215) overlooked the pool and felt private and relaxing. It also backed on the the car park which was a bit of a shame early in the morning when the rubbish bins were empty. The reception and waiting staff could not do enough to help us and the food in the public and private restaurant and in room service was exceptional. The honesty bar, free punch and free snacks at happy hour were nice touches but I preferred the Reisling available by the glass from the bar. The two swimming pools were small and (in September) the water was cold) but the areas were nice for relaxing and reading. Just two things I would have liked to make things perfect: slippers in the room to go with the lovely bathrobes and mats on the floor at the bedside.

Really excellent hotel
I have absolutely not complaints or issues associated with this hotel. Service was excellent, room was spacious and clean and food was great(huge breakfast buffet included!). Location is directly across from a protected area of beach (stinger net). Several nice restaurants (in addition to the excellent hotel restaurant) within easy strolling distance as well as a deli and a small grocery store. Palm Cove is about 25 minutes from the Cairns airport so nicely tucked away from the rampant tourism of that city. For departures to the Barrier Reef, you can depart from Cairns or our preference was to complete a slightly longer, more scenic drive to Port Douglas. Daintree, the Skyway and Atherton tablelands are all within easy driving distance. If you prefer, the hotel is happy to arrange for various tours with pick up occuring directly from the hotel. As a side note, there is a lot of history associated with this hotel. Check out the old guest registries which cover many decades. In continuation of that tradition, they also have an honor bar and free spiked punch every evening which we enjoyed! The spa is lovely and the pools are to die for...there is a very relaxing, pleasant poolside cafe where you can spend quiet a bit of time without any effort at all. I would highly recommend the Sebel Reef House Palm Cove to anyone without any hesitation.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Try the Synergy out of Port Douglas for your Barrier Reef experience. A sailing catemaran that caters to a maximum of 12 snorkelers. Worth every penny!
