Decent location but tired hotel

We thought Scarborrough Beach was really nice and a central location for travel up and down the western coast. However, the hotel seem quite tired and needs a little tender-loving-care. Nice restaurants nearby. We’d go back for the location -- we were never in our rooms anyway, so the room was OK for just sleeping!!!

Beachfront views, if slightly rundown

My wife and I stayed here 3 days in February. First, the view of the beach are extraordinary - you can see forever up and down the white sandy border of the Indian Ocean. That said, the hotel is a little run down - the main restaurant closed, and the area clearly has been hit with bad economic times. Plus it’s a LONG way from the airport and downtown Perth, but then again, you’re going for the beach, right? Staff was extremely helpful, and was able to get us a room a day earlier than planned.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

You can take the bus to downtown Perth, which I recommend, if only for a day. Hotel has laundry facilities and pool bar (which makes for a great day if you combine the two). Ditch the pub and go across the street (south) - great food and service.

Good beach location

Hotel was nice, tried to be fancy, maybe fancy for Australia but you don’t need fancy when you’re really just there for the beach. For longer stays find a local villa with a kitchen. Many positives in general at this hotel, only negative is that internet is only available in lobby or business center and they charge daily or hourly rates (not too fancy on this level). The pool is simple and very nice, hottub is kind of basic. Scarborough beach is excellent, calm and rough depending on weather, great place to get some rays and do a little swimming in fun waves!

This hotel was nice for it’s location and had the best hotel gym that I’ve ever seen. The hotel was built in the 80’s and it shows, perhaps that is why there is a good gym?

Get a room on the ocean side and use the gym!

Needs refurbishing, very noisy, but only game in town.

The Hotel Rendezvous is in a terrific location and is the only full service hotel on the beach in Perth. I guess the customer traffic has been high since its opening and as a result the hotel has a worn appearance. Stains and tears in carpets, stained tubs and knicked up furniture are some examples. Also, the noise from cars tearing up and down the street running parallel to the beach goes on all night and can be heard quite clearly even on the upper levels. All this considered, the staff are courteous and helpful, the views are great, the restaurants in and around the hotel provide a variety of great food and the location can’t be beat. I have stayed at Rendezvous several times and will continue to; I can only hope they install speed bumps on the road and refurbish some of the worn aspects of the place.

Taxi fare is high from the airport to this hotel plus going into town can become costly. Rent a car. Perth is easy to get around in.
