it was very nice again

we had a good time again at the Hola ,the only problem was it was like a ghosttown, Puerto vallarta did not have any flu out breaks at all ,but vacationer where afraid so it was very empty the hole Town.Lots of hotels where closed but the hola was still open and we had a good time again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

IF you need anything at all across the street from the hola is a big Supermarket, you can find everything there.

Great hotel with great people. A+++++

My wife and I loved staying at the Hola. The staff were fabulous. Very friendly, and very helpful. We never wanted for anything. We will definitely be coming back.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Tip the staff regularly and you will get service next to none. These folks don’t make much money, and they very much appreciate even a small tip.

Had a great time!

This hotel was great! The service was excellent, the room was always kept clean, the food was great (for the price - we did the all-inclusive option and are SO glad that we did). I really liked that all of the rooms available are ocean-view with a small balcony. We also really enjoyed the ’adults only’ pool - there is another pool for the kids. The adults only pool was absolutely beautiful!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Any of the whale watching tours are amazing during the winter months - we actually got to see about 6 or 7 whales!

Good Value, Great Service

We did the all-inclusive package through Expedia and found it to be a good value. The service and friendliness of the staff at Hola is far and away the biggest attribute. The buffets were what you’d expect, but still good. They have ketchup, just ask :) The drinks flow from morning until 1-2 a.m. Bottom shelf, but made strong, so you don’t mind after a few :) No Corona though! The beach is beautiful and the sunsets unmatched, nice view of the entire bay and the downtown area. Request a room in the main tower, this is a must. Better view, less noise, more private. Hola lacks in nightlife - we’re talking bingo and karaoke are the highlights. But fret not, 5.5 pesos (about 50 cents) will get you downtown ("El Centro," the blue and white buses only) where there is more than enough to satisfy all. Hola does offer kayaks, snorkle equipment and some activities like beach volleyball and water aerobics also. Plan plenty of trips around downtown and Mismaloya (beautiful!) *Finally, but perhaps most important, book as many of your excursions (canopy zip lines, booze cruises - try Beach Boy, whale watching, Rhythms of the Night - fantastic, etc.) online in advance! Otherwise you’ll be charged commission fees by anyone in Vallarta (including Hola staff) that you purchase them from. Anyone. Have a great trip!

Traveler's tip

*Word of caution! You’ll be approached by beach peddlers selling everything. This is unavoidable. A simple "no gracias!" will do. You’ll get used to it after the first couple of days. Also, DO NOT schedule a time share presentation no matter what they offer. They’re everywhere in Vallarta! We were approached at the Marina, downtown and even outside the hotel. Ignore these folks or they won’t let you go! Don’t get me wrong, Vallarta is a beautiful place and well worth the trip.

Hola was FUN!!

The rooms were very spacious with a huge bed that was a little too hard. But every room has a beautiful view over looking the ocean and swimming pool. The rooms were also very clean, even if we put the do not disturb sign out in the morning and then went to the beach around noon when we got back the room was always clean. There were two bars that we always were at in the lobby and at the beach. The bar at the beach was very cool because every day we would sit on the beach and a server would bring us whatever we wanted all day long along with whatever food we wanted. The bar in the lobby was also fun because at night there was always fun activities and dancing. The drinks consisted of Sol beer and alcohol. The food was ok! I mean there was always food available even from 11-5am they serve tacos! It was edible but not the best. I think that the breakfast is the best time to eat at Hola. The service was great! We never had a problem. We went with a group of 8 and all day we had great service on the beach! The server would bring us as many beers as we wanted. They had great activities directors which included a group of young fun people that always made the day fun! There was water aerobics, water & beach volley ball. They always included everyone around the pool and the staff was always in a great mood! Overall this hotel was great! We weren’t too far from downtown or the marina. The hotel is actually right in the middle. I would definitely recommend this hotel to you.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

The best night club in Puerto Vallarta is Mandala! They have really good music and the club is open so you get fresh air and a beautiful view of the ocean. We went to this club every single night we were in PV. It was too much fun!!

Loved it

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this hotel. The staff were very friendly. The food plentiful and good. The housekeeper surprised us every day with a creation of towels made into swans and different figures. Also had flowers and flower petals on the bed and in the bathroom. I would go back again and in fact will next year.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Jewelery prices were a fair price. Much to choose from. Loved going through the flea markets.

Busy in July

The hotel was well staffed. We went in July and it was very crowded. I would have like another swimming pool for adults only beacause the pool was very heavly used by families with small children and was very busy. The food was good and plentiful. The ocean is only 50 yards away but is not very clear do to the run off from the rivers in the mountains. July is the rainy season, although it only rained at night. The hotel was kept very clean and the room were spacious.

Very Disappointed

Before choosing this hotel I read reviews from others that said the rooms were clean and the food was good. I found neither to be true. When we checked in we found hairs in both the room and bathroom. Not only was the food unsatisfactory, but there were two of us travelling and we both became sick after eating at the buffet style restaurant.

If Pretty is what you want, this aint it!

The condition of this Hotel was Mediocre at best the repairs and touch-ups made were so sloppy it was hard to look at. When you go on vacation to an all inclusive Resort & Spa you expect it to be nice to look at as stated above pretty is not at all how I would describe this run down hotel/motel that happens to serve food. When we arrived the food was awful and my daughters milk was warm. For the fist couple of days all of the food tasted the same and then all of a sudden it got better maybe they changed the oil or we just got use to it and the real disappointment was the desserts dont bother they are not at all worth the calorie intake they were awful. We have already decided we will not be going back to this hotel/motel when we return to MX next year.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Don’t buy downtown, they are ridiculous in price, I do better in San Diego CA, go to the indoor mall (2 blocks)across the street, and get your desserts there to. :-)

DO NOT GO HERE!!!

We literally just returned and we were EXCITED to come back to the comfort of our own home after being here!!! This is by NO MEANS a resort. It is an old hotel that caters to the locals-not vistors-especially if you are American. The hotel was old and needed many repairs-outdated EVERYTHING. It rained some evenings and there were LEAKS all over. The pool has tons of tiles missing. The pool was DIRTY and cloudy. The beach area is small. The rooms are so humid that all your clothes feel wet. The evening shows are terrible. The furniture is dirty and you feel gross if you sit on the couches. The pictures on the internet ARE NOT how the hotel looks at all. The elevator broke. They try to charge for everything. There are only 3 restaurants (not four like stated) and one is outside where all food is covered with flies. The rest serve the exact same food and none are open at the same time. Every night kids would run down the halls or knock and ditch at all hours of the night. You have to pay for Internet. You have to check out a remote. Lobby had pigeon poop on the floors constantly. The bathtub leaked all over the floor Most of the staff was somewhat friendly but some were very rude. We had to ask over and over again for things to be done. Do not go here if you intend to relax and enjoy because you’ll be too worried about your safety and cleanliness to relax...oh yeah, we also got sick on the food for one night.

Traveler's tip

We also booked the travel voucher to and from the airport for 50$ each person...our person ’overslept’ and we didn’t get picked up for 1.5 hours and when we called they weren’t there to help us. We ended up taking a taxi. When we complained, they simply said, "Your driver overslept" and that was it. We also found out it was only a 8$ cab ride to and from the airport...so don’t do the expedia ’deal’.

Can’t Wait to Get Back

We just got back from a wonderful week at the Hola Puerto Vallarta. This was the first time we had stayed at the Hola since it changed ownership. It used to be the Qualton and was a nice place but it was falling into disrepair. The new owner has invested much time, effort and money in making the hotel a wonderful place to stay. Our room was freshly painted and comfortable with a wonderful view of the bay. The beach is large and planted with Palm trees to provide ambience and shade. It is a great place to spend the day or a week for that matter. The food is good. There is good variety at each meal and the Gourmet resturant is 5 star by anybody’s rating system. The greatest thing about the Hola is the service you receive from the entire staff. They are attentive and will cater to your every need. We can’t wait to go back which we will be doing in October. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The best way to get to the downtown area of Puerto Vallarta is to take the bus. It is only 5 pesos and it will drop you off where ever you want to go whether it be to the Flea Market, the Malecon or the central shopping area.

Great Place to Stay!

I just returned from a one-week stay at the Hola with my boyfriend. We booked an all-inclusive package with a king room on the 10th floor of the tower. Our room was spacious and clean and had a beautiful view of the ocean and the sunsets. The staff at the hotel provided excellent service. We spent a few days lounging by the pool and walking on the beach and there were food and drinks available 24 hours a day. The events staff always had activities and entertainment to offer. The front desk was always happy to make change for tips since that really is the only thing you have to spend money on here. Downtown Puerto Vallarta and the Boardwalk and flea market were just a $5 cab ride away as was the Marina. We also took the bus up to Sayulita for the day and it cost us each just $2 each way. We had a fabulous vacation and are already talking about our next trip back! Also, we booked the airport shuttle through Expedia before we left and found it extremely convenient since someone was waiting for us at the airport and a concierge came to the hotel to make sure our stay was going smoothly and to arrange our return trip to the airport. Definitely a very smooth vacation experience.

location

the hotel was alittle older, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. even though it was only a few miles from downtown it was somewhat time consuming to get there, so we didn’t have much of a night life. but if you are looking for a nice place to relax Hola would be a good place to go.

Great Cure for the Winter Blahs

The entire staff was friendly, helpful, fun, and kind. Our room was clean and the view was one of God’s masterpieces. The Gourmet Restaurant earns its title. Delicious and beautiful. Other food was fine. Desserts were seemingly catered in and a disappointment to a dessert lover (no flan!), except for Mexican Fiesta night. Overall, relaxing, enjoyable, and fun.

Loved Puerto Vallarta

The Hola was a great place to stay for the money. The staff was excellent, friendly, and helpful. We stayed in the tower on the 12th floor, but other guests at the resort complained about the noise level in the other areas of the hotel. We didn’t have a complaint...dated, a little, but super-clean. This was our first all inclusive, and just went by the customer’s comments when we booked. We’re definately going back, but would consider a hotel with a little more to do (dining/night life). NO TEENAGERS!(We were worried about Spring Breakers) We went for our honeymoon (both 42), most the guests we’re 50+, but lots of fun!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Stay away from the WHITE taxi’s at the airport. Just cross the foot bridge and grab a YELLOW.The white charged $20 from the airport, yellow is $4.Take the bus...50 cents takes you everywhere and they are clearly marked. Take the Booze Cruise...9 hours for $77 for both of us, went snokeling, whale watched, horseback riding, lunch, and their version of a continental breakfast!

Can’t wait to go back!

The best thing about this resort is the service. The staff is there to wait on you hand and foot - even when you are out on the beach. The rooms definitely could stand to be updated. You can tell that the humidity and tropical climate takes it’s toll on paint. But...how much time do you really spend in your room when you are in a place as beautiful as Puerto Vallarta? We thought the food was great. We expected it to taste somewhat institutional, but even though it is served buffet style, it tasted very fresh. The choices were magnificent - both Mexican cuisine and American. All in all our stay was very enjoyable and we will come back to the Hola.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you can only do one extra activity while in Puerto Vallarta, do the Rhythms of the Night Cruise and dinner. This show is fabulous. It is 5 hours of awesome entertainment and is well worth the cost considering it includes your boat transportation to and from the island (1 hour each way), a fantastic candlelit meal, all beverages including alcohol, and a wonderful show of native customs. It’s very romantic.

Noisy!

First room we had the bathroom flooded. Next room they put us in was over the lobby. We didn’t know they were having a huge nightly party lasting until 2am. The noise was tremendous. Tried to call the front desk and the girl couldn’t hear our call over the noise. If you like a very noisey party atmosphere this is the place for you! We left after the second night with only a couple hours sleep combined. I will say the food and service was excellent though. Don’t get a poolside room unless you like the constant music from the loudspeakers. Very LOUD.

If you’re looking for a quiet leizurely place to stay don’t go to this hotel.

Ok for the Thrift

The staff was very friendly. The drinks ran aplenty and were definitely stronger with tips. The food left a little to be desired. Most of the breakfast and lunch buffet food was barely room temperature. The food would’ve been much better if they just kept it warmer. The beach at this resort was much bigger and better than the neighboring resorts. Beach chairs are limited however, and it is key to get up early and throw a book or magazine on the chairs to stake your claim for the day, which is a nice excuse to get up and watch the sun rise. The room was a little musty the first night, but the maid staff kept the room very clean.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Make sure to take advantage of the bus system to travel downtown. It is 50 cents per ride compared to between $5 to $17 each way for a cab ride.
