Awesome Hotel, Great Price
The Park Royal Cozumel was awesome, particularly when you consider the price. The facility was top-notch, our room was very clean, and the service was impeccable. Also, the hotel is not too far from the shopping district and ferry terminal, so the taxi ride is short. The things we liked best about it were the pools (one of which overlooks the ocean waters) and, believe it or not, the food and beverages. We ate at the buffet (La Veranda) for almost every meal (and at the Italian restuaurant once) during our 5 day stay. I am from Las Vegas originally, so I consider myself to be a good judge of all-you-can-eat and drink buffets and I thought the quality of the buffet was very high. We did not get sick despite drinking the water at the restaurant, although we did use bottled water for brushing out teeth. Having said that all these great things though, the one thing that visitors should know is that Park Royal is in the business of selling timeshares, so we did volunteer to sit through a 2 hour presentation. Fortunately, we did it early in the day and we didnt get a hard sell, so it wasnt too bad. The reward for doing so is that we got a couple days car rental and 2 Chitzen Itza tour tickets, which saved us some money overall, so be sure to get some sort of reward for your time spent!

Great Hotel
The hotel was a great time. We were there as a graduation gift to me/birthday present for my girlfriend. The service was excellent, the food was good, and the shows at night were fun. Dont be afraid to get on stage, you might just win a bottle of tequilla! The biggest downside was the people who acted as concierge but were really trying to sell time shares to the guests. Just blow them off and enjoy your time there. Also, just be aware there are some mosquitos around, so you might get bit, but it wasnt a mood killer. Overall, it was a great time. We were able to get crazy if we wanted to and just sit around and read next to the pool as well. This is the second Park Royal I have stayed at (the other was in Acapulco) and they both were great.

Park Royal is not all that Royal
The food was horrible! I read many reviews prior to booking. Unfortunately, my wife and I did not listen to the negative and decided to stay here. Even breakfast was sub-par. The facilities are nice but the food even in the reservation restaurants is horrible. I recommend the Park Royal get a culinary chef who has been schooled in Europe or US to give them advice about how food should be served. The hotel is depressing and the diving is not all that great. I see just as much stuff diving in San Diego, CA as I did here in Cozumel. The reefs have all been decimated from a previous hurricane a couple of years ago. Stay away from this hotel. Stay somewhere else. The view of cruise ships is not that pleasant. The elevators in the hotel are all broken. The workers seem unhappy.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Rent a car or scooter and go around the island for a day.
Comment from the hotel's management
Posted: 11-Nov-09To whom it may concem: We are writing in connection with a comment published on Expedia.com on October 07th2009 We would like to let you know we were asking among our personnel about any incidents they may have had with any of our guests and we could not find any bad comments during the last 3 weeks of September. Neither the Food and Beverage nor the Rooms Division Manager had any knowledge of this particular incident. Also we would like to say that we did have, the last week of September, technical difficulties with the elevators, but maintenance personnel fixed immediately. About the snorkeling experience, we are famous all over the world for our coral reefs, we agree that past hurricanes have damaged a great deal of our marine heritage, but we still can say that our reefs are still very beautiful and full of colorfullife of all sorts. Our Mexican Caribbean crystal blue waters, can not be compared with the waters ofthe Pacific like in this case, San Diego. We feel bad for our guests and were sorry that their travel experience was so awful, but we are still here to do the best we can to even from the distance, be of any service. Sincerely,
Miguel Eugene Zorraquin, General Manager

Excellent place to stay.
Wide array of foods and plenty of it. Theres a different theme on the menu every night and the option of mexican and italian dining(with reservation). Pouring good liquor and great drinks even though its all inc. Great entertainment throughout the day and night to keep you thrilled at the resort. The only complaint would be the peacock wake up call and the maids moving the beds early in the morning (extremely irritating). This would not hinder my choice to return. No reason to sleep in anyway. This is a well kept resort and I would return.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Diving is extraordinary. Take the pirate cruise. Good entertainment, great food and all the booze you can drink.

great staff
Nice hotel and excellent staff. Only thing I didnt care for was the hard hotel beds and that the cruise ships did obscure the ocean view somewhat. Overall experience was very good.

Top notch hotel - especially for the cost!
People were friendly, rooms were clean, facilities were always nice and clean. Food at buffet restaurant was always varied and plentiful. The Mexican restaurant was as good as any top Mexican restaurants in town. Overall, we were pleased and the kids had a blast.

Great Bargain for the Price
The room was clean. The A/C worked great and we had great water pressure and plenty of HOT water! The resort was well maintained and very clean. The pool/beach scene was very nice. 2 pools to choose from that are almost identical with a small shallow lagoon in the middle. Yes, the lagoon is man made but it great for a 6 year old to swim around in which is not deeper than 3 feet. The bars service was a little slow at times. The mixed drinks were good but not great, however the beer was always cold. The meals at all the restaurants were good.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
When you arrive walk out of the airport and go straight towards the fountain (you cant miss it just outside the airport). Grab a cab there for a fraction of the cost of the van service offered at the airport.

Great deal!
We were really happy with our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We met a lot of guests that complained about being bothered about timeshares, but we never encountered that. The beds are uncomfortable but the rooms were very nice. The infinity pools were great and the bar staff were very nice. The drinks are a little watered down and the food was terrible. We ate at the buffet several times and the Mexican restaurant. For breakfast, the food is good but otherwise is very bland. On our third day, we started eating at restaurants off the resort and found much better quality. We were also very happy that bottled water was provided in the rooms each day free of charge. There was no iron in the room which was annoying. The "family" pool in the middle of the resort was closed on our last day there for cleaning - apparently many children in the resort got ear infections from swimming in that pool. We never got in that one and had no problems.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you stay here, you MUST go to Ernestos fajita factory, which is across the street. Ask for Freddie - we ate there several times as the food and drinks were the best we had on the island. Avoid AquaWorld for diving - you get a better value and more attention using a smaller dive shop.

We will return soon!
This hotel, its staff, grounds, customer service, etc. were OUTSTANDING! I must say I am not an "all inclusive" gal but was traveling with my teenager so wanted a more structured and convenient setting. This was a perfect middle ground, in town did not feel trapped but felt safe, well looked after, and my teenager actually got involved in many activities due to the high quality Entertainment Staff. We did not ever made reservations at either of the higher end restuarants, the buffet was fresh, a lot of variety, and convenient. As for the bars, they used good quality alcohol & again, top notch staff. Another plus, this property owns a portion of beach AND had a small reef offering decent snorkeling. Truly, I do not know what to rave the most about, the staff and service or the beautiful property and amenities! We are already making plans to return and cant wait!

A Full Week at Park Royal
Ill keep it simple. The only issue we had was the beach was much smaller and rockier than shown on the website. Other than that, the place was perfect. Its close to downtown Cozumel, and there are in fact some businesses within walking distance. Additionally, the overall cleanliness of the resort and pools was incredible. The staff was incredibly friendly. The rooms are great, beds are comfortable. The balconies are fantastic, with glass sides. We saw workers cleaning the balconies and the windows in the hallway constantly. Everything was just gorgeous. The food was great - I was concerned after reading some reviews on the buffet. The buffet was great for five of the six nights we were there. The food at the buffet was different each time I was there. We also tried each of the formal restaurants, and both were good. Interacting with other vacationers, we found that many were repeat visitors to Cozumel and would not recommend any other resort, unless you are staying specifically for diving.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
There is an affordable parasailing business next door, and you can set up an appointment by a building on the north side of the resort. You can get your cab fare reimbursed if you eat at Carlos n Charlies or Senor Frogs downtown. Once youre there, enjoy the city.

Cozumels front seat to perfection
The hotel was amazing! We really enjoyed the resort and its location. It was a little far from the downtown area, but my wife and I thought it was great because it allowed for more serenity. The event staff was very fun and energetic and you simply cannot go wrong with the 3 swim-up bars and the view of the ocean front.

Second time good as the first
Went to park royal in feb. and could not wait to go back so when we seen the prices for july we went back. Were a little worried about the heat but wasnt much hotter than Feb. I talked my son in joining us from denver. All had a great time, the snorkling was even better maybe because we went out farther. It would help if you knew a little mexican the workers speak very little english but all are very friendly. But thats good its makes you learn another language. The food is so so, breakfast is great the booze is good never stops the sea is magical. Park Royal is beatiful and all areas are very very clean. The pools are clean and relaxing. A good place to just enjoy COZUMEL.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Take the time to see Playa Del Carman on the main land. Its just $20 round trip ferry ride and they run about every hour.

Great for the price
This was our first time at a all inclusive hotel and we felt that we had gotten a good deal for the money. The food in the two restaurants was wonderful and my husband enjoyed pigging out at the snack bar. I would recommend bringing your own snacks if you are not into hot dogs and hamburgers. But beware! Do not leave your snacks out in the room.... the cleaning people helped themselves to our protein bars while we were hitting the beach. Plus the hamburgers made myself, my husband and another couple sick one afternoon. The drinks are pretty watered down but slip the bartender a 5 every morning and he will hook you up.

Great resort to stay at in Cozumel!
We arrived and were immediately greeted by many staff members. Food was great, there were so many choices that if you did not like one thing, try something else! The rooms are beautiful and simple, though the beds are hard as a rock and the sheets are thin. Unless you want to waste part of your vacation, stay away from the time share people (their shirts say "Royal Holidays" not "Park Royal"). Snorkeling right off the beach is great. Clean and inviting, Park Royal was a great place to stay!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Make sure you do a little bit of everything at the resort. Eat at both the restaurant by making reservations. The snack bars are adequate for a light lunch if you cant get away from the pool or the beach!

exceptional
This hotel live up to my expectations and surpassed them. My Wife and I will be returning to this resort in the future.
Traveler's tip on shopping
We found that the main stores (with set prices) were cheaper than the side street vendors that you had to bargain down the price. The stuff is usually the same and it doesnt matter where you are located on the strip.

Good place to stay in Cozumel.
The Park Royal was well maintained. Rooms were clean. Oveall the food in the restaurants were better than average. In some cases it was excellent. Beautiful grounds and great beach area with pools.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
I did my diving next door with Barieca Divers located at El Cid/La Cieba. There boats were not cattle boats like Aquaworlds at the Park Royal and there rates were much cheaper. Great dive master.

Overall a nice place. Some issues with hot water (as in not always having it). Also some musty smell from all the hot humid weather. Enjoyed the beach/swim area, beach volleyball, and flexibility of the schedule. Also nice central location.

Exactly what we were looking for!
My husband and I stayed here from July 2 -6. It was exactly what we were looking for! Immaculate room, fabulous snorkling, decent food (breakfast was great, good burgers on the beach, dinners okay). Although, we have been to bigger, fancier resorts near Playa del Carmen, we keep retuning to Cozumel because the water here is like no where else Ive been (Carribean or Mediterranean). This resort is a short cab ride to town where you can try the local restaurants (our favorite is La Mission - try the sexy coffee!). I was disappointed that there was a $5 fee for each use of the gym.
