Not to visit by car, overpriced
The hotel is in the city center that is a maze of dead end streets, bus only and one way streets. Cannot be recommended for people travelling by car. There are other European old towns much more friendly to visitors than Maastricht. Hotel is old but in fairly good shape but overpriced. Understaffed, the clerk seems to be on the phone most of the time. Think twice before accepting the breakfast offer. It was the most expensive morning meal we had at our two weeks trip around Benelux, Germany and France and it was nothing more than ordinary.

Best Western Hotel DuCasque - City Centre
This was a great hotel and the cheapest of any we stayed in on our trip. The hotel as a great location in the center of Maastricht. A great shopping plaza was a block away as was the town square, which was hosting a carnival during our stay. The staff was great as well. The room was small, so what is new in Europe, but very servicable. I left behind a favorite hat that the hotel is working with me to recover. Great service. Within a block also was a string of about ten restarants.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Maastricht is a great city. We were only there due to our son goes to school there. While it may not be a destination it would be a good day trip with great train access. There is an excellent restored Catholic church by the town square. Also we did a river tour that tooks us about 5 miles downstream and dropped us off to climb up a winding road to caves used for building block. The river front in Maastricht is really beautiful
