The most amazing service, staff and atmosphere!!!

Thank you people from Taj Mahal for your amazing service! you made our trip PERFECT!! Mr.Mohit, Mr.Vikas, Chef Gagal, Ms.Amrita and their colleagues, your level of professionalism is beyond words! The food at the MASALA ART is the best indian foor we EVER had and the ORIENT EXPRESS is the most exquisite and romantic food experience. we came back home so sad for leaving but so happy for having met the soul of INDIA in the people we had the honor to meet in TAJ PALACE Thank you all for making our trip the most memorable! We will always think of you with warm hearts!

Traveler's tip on dining

Try the MASALA ART and watch the chefs cooking at their cooking table. Orient Express is a journey through food for soul and body! their chocolate melting cake is dangerously addictive!!!

Very Comfortable - Excellent Customer Service

We stayed in the club-level of the Taj. They are in the process of making a separate Club level lounge. Since it is still under construction, the Club level gets you complimentary coffee/tea and some snacks in the Cafe on the main level. This came in handy. The was very comfortable and clean and the staff was excellent.

A big disappointment for the money

I had paid for a club room at the Taj, specifically to have access to the amenities of the Club lounge. The room we were allocated was very nice, but the Club lounge was being refurbished, immediately below our room. So not only did we not have the perks of the Club lounge, but we had hammering and drilling all day between the hours of 9am - 8pm. The staff in general were very aloof, and one particular individual at the front desk was frankly rude to us when we tried to complain about the noise. The hotel itself is very pleasant, although the outside is in need of new paint and some sort of deterrent to pigeons. On the plus side, the buffet breakfasts in the cafe were excellent. The hotel cars are also relatively inexpensive, and are well worth hiring for a few hours to take in the sights. In particular we liked Praveen, who was an extremely friendly and knowledgeable driver. However, overall I would have expected a lot more from a hotel of this calibre, particularly given the hefty price tag. I also think that we should have been informed of the club lounge renovations beforehand, as I would have gone for a basic room if we had been told that the lounge would be unavailable to us.

Good hotel but

The taj palace is a good hotel with a extremely high level of service. There were smiling staff at every corner to help. Infact you cant walk around the hotel without someone asking you if they can help you. Almost to the point of being intrusive. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed. we found a cockroach in the bathroom which spoilt the entire image of the hotel. the restaurents and bars are topclass and food impeccable. Overall a very good hotel but for the solitary cockroach that crept in between the army of smiling greeters, receptionists, cleaners and car openers. There was an overall feeling of an army waiting for its General.

Not as centrally located as their other property in town.

Taj Palace: 5 Star Hotel of 1980’s

The decor and ambience has not changed much since the 80’s. Rooms still have big boxy televisions and bedside night table dials for piped music!Though a clean, perfect and sterile 5 star hotel, it lacks character and personalized service. Staff try hard to do their job, but come across as cold and robotic. We requested a Non-Smoking room for 2 with King Bed. We were instead assigned a room with twin bed, and the front desk staff assumed that the room was for one person, even though we had a printed expedia itinerary with the correct reservation details! The matter was resolved with the intervention of the manager after sometime, but one expects better from a hotel in this class.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Book your room here only if you cannot find a room in the renovated contemporary 5 star boutique hotel ’The Maurya’ next door, or the ’Hyatt Regency’ a few miles away.

Good but expensive for the location

In Bangkok, you get better standard for less... but I guess in India you can’t expect this quality level to come cheap. Anyway, the place is good in every respect, everything works, staff are fast and accurate, food is good and the premises clean, nice and relatively well -located - although to go anywhere you will need a car.

Traveler's tip

To go to town get a normal taxi at the door (they have taxis with meters) and agree witht he driver to take you back or to stay with you all the time. It is not expensive and much safer.

Indian Luxury

This is a beautiful hotel and, while expensive, worth the visit. Rooms are great and the service is extremely attentive.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Go and see the Taj Mahal, but remember - it’s closed on Fridays.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at!

We stayed here for 3 nights in Dec 2006. I had stayed here before ~10 yrs ago on business, my family had never been here. We were just delighted with everything. Both our rooms were just great, restaurants were great, business center was very nice. The expedia.com rate we had was outstanding!!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

If sightseeing, don’t miss Akshardham - an awe-inspiring modern-day marvel!

Resonably Priced Haven

After a long day at the office and experiencing many bad hotels in the Delhi area this hotel was a gem to find. It meets a business traveller’s needs on a budget or is a great place for families to stay while on holiday. The breakfast is good with a huge variety and they are willing to please their guests by freshly preparing anything requested. They quickly get to know your name and needs. I have never stayed in a bad room over my past four or five visits.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

A hotel with similar luxuries to other upper end five-star hotels, but meets the needs of a business traveller on a budget. Wi-fi internet connection is a breeze.

Overall comfortable

Pretty good. A lot of helpful people in the lobby. Biggest problem: I had some laundry done by the hotel service, and each of 2 pair of pants came back with multiple large, brown stains (which had not been there when I sent the laundry out). Also FYI, the free chocolates had fingerprints on them. However, the hotel grounds were immaculate, a real haven from the blowing dust that is so abundant other areas of the city. All things considered, the room was comfortable and I had a nice stay.

Traveler's tip

The bellhop desk has a book which contains the lawful published taxi and rickshaw fairs. Get a copy. Take a map (also available at the bellhop desk) and use it to show that you know where you are and where you need to go. Look for working meters and/or agree on the price before getting in. If they offer services you don’t want, be firm. If they pretend not to know where your desired destination is located despite your showing them the address, get out of there.

Nice Hotel - Bad internet connection

The hotel is OK and the service is very attentive - even too much so. If you forget to switch on the "Privacy Please" signal in your room, someone will be knocking on your door every hour to ask if everything is OK , if you need room service etc. My feeling is they were looking for tips. The Internet connection is very slow and kept crashing. It was very frustrating while trying to get some work done.

Traveler's tip on dining

The Chinese restaurant in the hotel serves dim sum.
