Barcelona Hotel Visit

Arriving by train at mid-night on Halloween it could not have been more convenient to slip into the lobby and up to the room. The view of the city looking off toward Sagrada Familia was specacular and set us off the next morning in right direction and with a sense of scale of the city. Wish the stay were longer than one night. Great value and good location. Especially appreciated free concierge storage of luggaga for a day of walking the city, before boarding our next train for Narbonne.

Convenient and Reasonable

The Barcelo Hotel Sants is a good choice if you’re arriving by train--it’s located above the station and has easy access to the excellent Metro. It’s a few stops from the harbor, La Rambla, and the Gaudi district. My guest room and the public rooms somewhat show their age, but everything is clean. I would have no problem recommending it to others.

If you are going anywhere in Spain on the AVE, treat yourself to the Club Car, which is and upgrade from 1st class(aka Preferente) and thoroughly delightful. If you are 60 or older, pay 5 euros for the Tarjeta Dorada, the Gold Card, which pays for itself 10 times or more over with discounts for rail tickets and museum entry. You need not be a Spanish or EU national. You can buy the Tarjeta from the ticket agent in the stations. If you are in the Madrid Atocha RENFE station, the restaurant Samarkande, which is tucked at the end of the large domed arboretum, is a wonderful spot for a drink or meal. There are both bistro and fine dining menus, and the fine dining is 1st class.

great location

The hotel is located on top of the train/metro station, so getting to the airport or anywhere in the city is easy. Because it sits up high and away from the streets, there is no noise from the streets. All of the employees I encountered spoke English, and were very helpful and knowledgeable. I would recomend this hotel to anyone.

7 Days in Barcelona

Excellent choice for touring Barcelona. Located literally above the train station, its easy to get around and to the airport. A great value in an expensive city. Only downside is lack of a pool.

Mixed Review

The hotel was located over a central train station and the city metro. Metro service was speedy and easy to navigate. By staying at this hotel, you can be most anywhere in the city in 15 to 20 minutes. Tour bus stop was right outside hotel (for both tour services). Hotel charged for everything... Safe in the room; local phone calls; use of gym... My non-smoking room had cigarette burns on furniture, but no residual smoke smell. Carpet old and worn but the room was clean. Also, was very quiet. Breakfast buffet was excellent and reasonably priced.

This hotel has pros and cons. It is in the middle of the city, there is a train/metro station right under it, its 3 stops from the iarport by train, taxis are always around, free wi-fi, and brakfast its worth the 10 euros. The bad part is that the loby is nice and cool, my room was on the first floor, when getting out of the elevator in comparison to the loby the floor was really hot. when we went to the room the AC did not really keep the room cool wich was a big issue after coming back from the city. one of the guys at the reception was not friendly. so there is a 50/50 chanse of staying at that hotel again

Good value, but needs updating

The hotel staff provided excellent service. Most all staff members could easily communicate in English and were happy to assist guests in any way. The lobby is modern and attractive looking. Guest rooms, however, could use updating. While the rooms are clean, they appear tired and in need of renovation. The hotel is conveniently located. It is just a short (and inexpensive) train or metro ride to almost any point in Barcelona. I was easily able to get to the hotel from the airport, and then later on to the cruise pier. Overall, this hotel offers good value, but needs updating.

This hotel is right above the Sants train and metro station. It is very easy (and inexpensive) to get to from the airport or cruise pier by pblic transportation.

Great Location

We choose this hotel because it is above the central transportation center of the city. We toured the city on the double decker bus that had a stop right outside. We rode the train to the airport from the under ground station ($2.55 each). You buy tickets in the mall area under the hotel then go below to the train that comes by about every 15-20 minutes - 20 minutes to the airport.

Miserable Experience

The Lobby was clean, modern, lovely and air conditioned. The room on the otherhand was smelly, dingy, not air conditioned - therefore stuffy hot and extremely uncomfortable. There were 2 other couples we were traveling with and their rooms were the same way. The staff could only offer us a fan. The elevators were also very slow, jerky and made us nervous.

Stay some place else, we noted several newer and nices facilities within 1-2 blocks at the same price.

Great value

Great location - easy for subway or taxis, just a short drive to the tourist areas (Cathedral etc.). Family suite (with separate bedroom) was HUGE by Spanish standards for a family of 4 and excellent value for Barcelona. Parking right in front of hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

I arived to find out that my passport had been stolen on the train from the airport to hotel. The front desk associate quickly put me in contact with the US consulate and wrote down the address for me. I was able to replace my passport within 2 hours time, thanks to the assistance of the hotel staff. I stayed here last year,this year and would stay again. The hotel is clean and convenient to everything in Barcelona. When I return to Barcelona, I will stay here again.

Great location, great size room, huge bed.

The best deal you get out of this hotel is its location: above one the the main metro/train stations of Barcelona, Saints Station. The hotel was really clean but it could use some new carpet and the furniture is a little outdated. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Traveler's tip on dining

Walk across the street (3 minute walk) and you will find several coffe shops. restaurants and bars with food at a much better quality and price than any of the more touristic spots in downtown Barcelona. Ask the hotel staff for directions.

Need to be renewed

Location of the hotel is great but the hotel itself and its service is poor. It should also be renewed. Service is far below satisfaction.

Great location, poor overall quality of rooms

When we booked our stay, this hotel was rated as a 4-star establishment & we thought we were getting a great deal for the price. Upon arrival, we found that the overall quality was more consistent with a 2 or 3-star establishment. We entered through the elevators from the train station and were not greeted by any bell service for luggage assistance. The representative checking us in was somewhat cold although other individuals later in our stay were more approachable. Although the common areas were clean and presentable, the rooms left much to be desired. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, all of the furniture was in need of updating, use of the in-room safe was charged an additional fee per day, and the television reception was poor. The walls were extremely thin and I could hear noise in other rooms and the hallway throughout the night. The greatest advantage offered by this hotel is its location above the train station; however, I would gladly pay more for a better quality hotel that was walking distance from the subway. Overall, I would say that this hotel is far from the 4-star rating that was advertised when we booked our stay. If creature comforts are not a priority for you, you might find this establishment acceptable.

Pleased

This was our first visit to Europe. We thought the hotel was very nice. A little closer to US standards than we expected from a European hotel. The staff was excellent and helped us with any question or problem (even prior to our trip through emails). Great location with the train and metro stations located underneath. Easy to take the tram from the airport to the hotel (although it was not operating at the time and we were given a free bus ride). The Metro was a snap to use and took you to any part of the city with ease. A pleasant 15 minute walk to the National Palace, fountains and Montjuich. Train station and surroundings were under construction at the time, I would stay here again anticipating its completion. Easy to grab a quick bite in the mornings at the McDonalds in the train station just to get something in your stomach to start the day of touring.

Walking the Ramblas was a blast. The street performers are great and unless you toss a coin in their jar they will make every effort to avoid you taking their picture (covering their faces and even flipping you the finger). Toss any coin in their jar and they will pose with you for a photo.

Good loction

Hotels location above Sants Estacio train station provides good and fast connection with airport and metro. Also very convinient for exploring Catalonia with train. Only problem is staying in family room (rooms connected with double wooden doors)if in room next door is Spanish family with small children. Sound isolation doesn’t exist.

Horrible Beds, everything else excellent

This hotel was great on amenities, location, and price, but the bed was so hard, I found that my leg would fall asleep if I slept on my side. It was like sleeping on the floor. The hotel is right above the main train station and a major metro and bus stop, so it was extremely convenient for getting out and seeing the rest of the city.

Not in a very good part of town

The hotel is located on top of metro and train station. it’s good for people who need to go to different places. There is a construction going on around the Hotel so, there are no views. The rooms need to be updated, I would not go back there.
