Antigua......be careful
The hotel itself was nice enough. But, I was very surprised to be told by my taxi driver as well as the staff at the hotel that Antigua is no longer very safe and I should not walk anywhere alone....including the 10 minute walk down to the beach. Taxis have a minimum rate, and if they come from town to take you to the beach its $10 one way for a 2 minute trip! Also, although very nice, the British Airways crew use this hotel and tend to take over the pool area! I visited 5 different islands on my trip and Antigua would be the only island I wouldnt return to. I was far more nervous in Antigua ~ and Im from Manhattan!!
If you still can ~ choose a different island!

Very impressed
From the moment we arrived we had a great time. The front desk and bell staff made us feel right at home and were a good first impression. Our room had a private balcony with the most amazing ocean view and was very quiet. The bar and restaurant was excellent also. We were surprised and impressed with the variety of both food and wine available and then doubly impressed with the quality (TASTE) and presentation. An excellent stay - would definitely stay again.

Mostly a plesant experience
We enjoyed the stay, the room view was very nice and the service and response of the employees was good. The only downer was dinner in the restaurant, which was not what I would expect from a resort hotel. I would recommend the facility for a quiet, pleasant, beautiful surroundings place stay. Breakfast and lunch were good but was impressed with the dinner meals.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
To get the most from this facility you will need to rent a car. It is only about 5 or 6 miles to St John but the round trip is a $25 to $30 (US) cab ride. Having your own transportation will allow you to get to other places to eat and getting around the island is easy (not many roads) unless driving on the British side of the road intimidates you.
