All around good place to stay.
The hotel was easy to find and in an excellent location. Close to the train station, shopping, restaurants, etc. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. They gave us passes to a nearby gym that was excellent. Beds were a bit narrow but adequate. Would definitely consider this hotel again.

Did not live up to expectation
On the upside, the staff were friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast was good - on the downside, the double room was cramped and dull with a tiny double bed, the decor was depressingly old-fashioned, and there was little life (no room service, the bar was shut even though it was a Saturday night). Overall it felt cheap (even though it wasnt) and functional - a far cry from the luxury, high-end impression given by the First Hotel website.
Traveler's tip on dining
The Moosehead bar / restaurant in the old square serves food til late, has a great atmosphere and fantastic outside dining with powerful heaters that beat the cold
