It’s not Waikiki

The location is remote but fabulous. The lobby and restaurants are nice. The rooms are dated. Very good veiws from most if not all rooms. Nice beachs and rocky shore to explore.

Awesome hotel for adults....If you have kids re-think it.

Turtle Bay Resort is beautiful. Beautiful location, Beautiful setting, Romantic, clean and most of the hotel staff are really nice. Food in the bar was horrible (especially the pizza) and other food we had was just OK. Great drinks at the outside bar. Resort is located pretty far from Waikiki so if you are looking for downtown excitement, this isn’t the place for you. We went into Haleweia to eat a lot (15 minutes drive). It takes about an hour to 1.5 hours to get to Waikiki. Only disappointment was the hotel is not kid friendly. Sure they have a game room. The waterslide is for "little" kids, nothing great. We took our 12 year old son and he was so bored. He got yelled at twice by the pool staff because you "can’t take pool toys of any sort" into the pool. This is more of a Japanese Resort in that area, so if you are ok with that you will love this place. I do not recommend taking your kids here for that reason. We ended up going to the huge waterpark about 40 minutes away and it was great fun, but we booked this resort thinking we would hardly leave it. We had to leave so our son could play and we left a lot to eat as we weren’t happy with a lot of the food. Golf Courses onsite were beautiful too. Just wish it was kid friendlier. The Westin Beach Resort in Maui is a great place for kids as is the Hyatt Regency in Maui. The Spa on the resort at Turtle Bay is really good, really friendly too

If you are without kids on this trip Turtle Bay resort is fantastic. If you have kids think about what they like to do before you go here. No toys in the pool means less pool time if you like to lay by the pool. The beach beside the hotel is great for snorkeling and the kids can play there with their toys, but the hotel itself has very strict and very unncecessary rules. The big deal is that the 7 nights we were there, it wasn’t crowded and most of the time there were hardly anyone in the pool, so the rule stinks. Husband and son loved the 2 golfcourses at the resort. Expensive..but normal Hawaii prices for golf but good courses, beautiful and everyone was friendly. The fitness center is great. The spa is REALLY GREAT. You can rent a car right from the resort.

Best Honeymoon Location

We went to Turtle Bay for our Honeymoon and we couldn’t have made a better decision. Our room was on the cove side with the beach and the sound of the waves coming in was awesome. We enjoyed the horseback riding, pool and beach. The only down side was that we weren’t able to snorkel or kayak because of high surf, but we had an unforgettable week in Hawaii and at Turtle Bay.

A nice place for couples

Nice hotel, beautiful beach. Nice for couples, but not a group that’s looking to do anything outside the facility. Too far away from any type of night life. Would have been nice to have some sort of evening entertainment, like music , dance floor, karaoke or something.

Perfect honeymoon

The beach-side cottages were amazing: large, comfortable, and a beautiful view. The concierge staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed (including a little jar of mayo and mustard one day when we wanted to make our own sandwiches for lunch). The fresh fruit and turn down service every day were a lovely perk and something we looked forward to when we came back at night. View was perfect, and we even had a sea turtle come up on the beach outside of our cottage one morning. The location is a bit far from everything else, but I think that’s a definite plus since it’s much more laid back and calming than Waikiki. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great place to stay

The resort was beautiful and away from the hussle and bussle of the city. The food was pricey at the resort but the Haleiwa was close by to eat at the local food places. I would highly recommend this place and will be going back to stay.

Visit Ted’s Bakery in Haleiwa. They have the most fabulous pastries and breakfast sandwiches and it is affordable.

Will definitely return!

What a relaxing resort! Ever tired of tourists, busy city life? Go to Turtle Bay Resort. What a comfort place to go. We sat on the beach and watched the sun go down and all our worries disappear. The small restaurant on the beach is so service oriented... excellent food and wonderfully kind staff. As a single person I had one dinner later in the evening with the chief personally waiting on me and a nice private table placed so I could view the sun go down over the water. The pool wait staff were just as kind. We attending a wedding at the site. I recommend this resort highly :)

Bring a book or watch the water waves and surfers!

Can’t wait to go back!

Turtle Bay is a wonderful resort. All the staff is extremely friendly, especially this one housekeeper who smiled and told us to have a fun time every day! The beach was great, there’s a lot of it, you don’t have to stay in the swim area. We snorkeled right there and saw lots of sea turtles and fish. The food and drinks were a little pricey but most things are in Hawaii. We had a fabulous time and want to go back someday!

I would not get thePower Pass again if I were staying at the Turtle Bay resort. Turtle Bay is about an hour from Honolulu and Waikiki and that’s where you have to go to pick it up and mostly use it. It was definately a waste of money.

Stay here for the island feel.

The northshore was beautiful. The hotel is a great resort for relaxing at the beautiful pool and watching the surfers go by. The beds were not the best bed I have slept in, but I was not bothered by it. It was a clean hotel, the room was large. This hotel is not close to any major shopping, though there are some cute shops in the small towns nearby. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. I went to their spa and it was great. They do have a package if you want to have a massage in a "hut", to hear the ocean, outside air. However, you must know that this "hut" is located by a walking path around the hotel. The food at the hotel is pricey, but you get what you pay for. The buffet has alot of their polynesian cuisine. I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old who would not have eaten at the buffet for dinner. The breakfast buffet is just as great as the dinner. There is a $20/nt resort fee. If going to Oahu and you want the island feel, stay here.

Got to go see the polynesian cultural center. The east end of Oahu, is a beautiful drive. If you are going to hike up to see Moana Waterfall, take but spray and water. If going to a flowergarden take bugspray. The bishop’s palace is a waste of money, don’t go. The atlantis sub ride, not worth it. The shark adventures, so worth it. I would go visit the big island and see, lava at night. While your there go see the black beach and green beach. Rent a 4x4 for the green beach, if not your hiking for 2-3 hours there and back, but it is so worth it.

A Wonderful Turtle Bay Vacation!

The Turtle Bay Resort was everything we had hoped it would be. No problems, very nice hotel staff and a great room overlooking the snorkeling lagoon. The food was pricey but good and the extra cost was expected. Was the perfect Hawaiian resort for the first time visitor. Swam with the turtles and colorful fishes each day, we highly recommend this package!! Great North Shore,Oahu sunrises and sunsets!!!

Traveler's tip on dining

The food at Turtle bay was very good but is expensive. We did a mix of the resturants and bars at the resort, also got a small cooler and got snacks and lunch stuff at the Foodland down(South) the highway a bit. There is also a Foodland north of the resort 8 miles too. You have MacDonalds at Laie and Haleiwa, and cafes and of course the Shrimp trucks 5 miles north of the resort. But had great hamburgers and chicken strips at the resort at the three bars.

A great place to relax!

Turtle Bay is on the north shore of Hawaii and thus is in the country. It is peaceful and quiet. We went at the end of September and the resort was not crowded. The staff was always present but never overbearing. They were willing to help and were extremely knowledgeable about attractions, traffic and local fare. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Wish we could’ve stayed longer

Had a wonderful time. The resort was everything it advertised. Beautiful setting, fell asleep every night listening to the waves coming ashore. Staff was very friendly and helpful. From our room on the 5th floor we had a wonderful view of the ocean.

Great Resort

Outstanding full scale resort with magnificent ocean views from every room, immaculate grounds and extremely personable, courteous and helpful staff. We really hated to leave.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Consider taking one of the "Paradise Helicopter" flights from the resort. A wonderful experience particularly with the doors off. It was great!

Loved it! Can’t wait till next year!

Turtle Bay Resort is the perfect place to stay for that romantic get away. You are very secluded, away from the hassle of Wiakiki. The rooms are nicely furnished, and the staff was wonderful and catered to our every need! My wife and I will definately stay there again next year.

This was the best hotel.

I knew the North shore was a great place to stay but I didn’t know who great the hotel was going to be. This place was so great, I mean service the staff that looked you in the eye and said hello to you to the food out at the pool was so good. they have the best chicken wings I have ever had the deluxe burger was to die for. Ok the pools where so fun we just stayed there. Now we did go snorkeling and horse-back riding and on some long hikes. this is the place to be. I will tell everybody and have told everybody to stay here, they will not be disapointed. This by far is now my favoriate hotel to stay at. Thanks Turtle Bay for a wonderful Stay.

Great views

This hotel has great views but is about a hour from Honolulu so if you intend to do any activities there, I would recommend staying closer. Other than that it’s a great place to stay.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Most of the restaurants close around 9 or 10 so if you’re looking for a big nightlife, this is not the place.

Stay here when you go to Oahu!

My husband and I went to Turtle Bay for our honeymoon and just loved it. We really liked the location and that it is away from the crowds of the city, but close enough to go in for the day or night while enjoying a gorgeous scenic ride along the way. We stayed in the beach cottages and were blown away. The grounds are also amazing and our family and friends couldn’t believe the pictures we took were from our own resort. There are numerous activities right on the grounds themselves so you almost don’t even need to leave, but so much to explore and see on Oahu. Turtle Bay is definitely a resort we would return to.

Traveler's tip on dining

The restuarant called 21 North at Turtle Bay was amazing. The gourmet food was excellent and all 21 choices of martinis sounded really appetizing as well (we got the Hawaiian lime Martini & the Strawberry Lychee - yum!)

Beautiful Location

The hotel, service and location were great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was the only meal we ate on the property because it was included in our package. The continental breakfast was very good. The golf course was very nice and slightly less later in the day for people staying at the resort. The spa was outrageously overpriced for the service provided.

Traveler's tip

We ate in Haleiwa most nights. There are so many things to do and see near the hotel. We did all the tourist adventures (Dole Plantation, Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor...that was our longest drive) Snorkeling is good at the hotel.

Very Private and Relaxing

Nice North Shore getaway. Definitely do the Eco-Kayak tour with Captain Scott and Shaka Kayak tours. Food is a little expensive on site, but definitely try Ted’s Bakery or the shrimp trucks in Kahuku.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Food is a little expensive on site, but definitely try Ted’s Bakery or the shrimp trucks in Kahuku to save some money.
