Great experience and great proximity to hospital and restaurants. Lacks free wifi in your room or a complimentary continental breakfast.

Good hotl in a nice convenient location.

Hotel as clean, though not luxuriously clean it had all the amenities. Its close to food and nightlife, however there isn’t really a snack bar or someplace to get coffee drinks late at night.

I’d stay there again

Location was pretty convenient to everywhere we went. Walking distance to Downtown, the Back Bay and more. T station 1 to 4 blocks away depending on where you needed to go. Very comfortable bed. Slept like a baby. Nice inviting bar downstairs as well as a Starbucks, for decent coffee in the mornings.

Great Boston hotel with some Chinatown flare

I booked two rooms for a large group of friends to see the head of the charles crew regatta. It was very accomodating to my big group of mid 20 year olds reuniting for a good time in Boston. Hotel was clean and nice. The warm cookies at check in were a big plus. Good location to T stops and right next to chinatown. Only parking really available is the 40 dollar a night valet at the hotel.

A very best value for the price I paid thru Expedia

Very clean and comfortable room with excellent service, plus Starbucks just right next to the lobby. Access to the T is nearby, overall it’s hard to beat!

A very nice experience.

Everything about this hotel was nice The location is within walking distance of most everything. Many restaurants nearby and public transportation right there. Beds were nice and linens new. Our room was on the top floor (6th) and was very quiet.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

A nice breakfast or lunch facility across the street - Bon au pain.

Great Location & Service / Will Go Back

The Room was quiet, clean and comfortable!!! Could not ask for much more. It is in downtown with those inconveniences and challenges but wonderful central location next to the "T" and minutes away from all the good stuff!!!

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Limited Parking....better to be early.

good location, but..

We arrived around noon and asked to keep our baggage. The desk clerk said a concierge could do it, but there is no one at concierge section. There was a window in our room, but the window didn’t faced to outside, but another room. We saw garbage and some trash bags through the window.

Not Impressed

The hotel itself was nice. The room was too small. We were always on the go so didn’t spend alot of time in the room. The hotel has a restaurant attached which we visited. The service was bad would not go there. Did not like the location, did not consider that downtown, maybe Chinatown. We will visit Boston again but not the Doubletree.

Great Hotel

I had a great stay in this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful although not very knowledgable of restaurants in the immediate area. The hotel is situated near the theatre district and Chinatown. Downtown amenities are easily accessible via the T subway or by taxi for a minimal fee. The room was very neat and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The trolley tour is highly recommended. Legal Sea Foods is a wonderful seafood restaurant within walking distance.

Nice but a little noisy

The hotel interior is attractive and the hotel is very convenient to the subway station and right across from New England Medical Center. It is also associated with a YWCA or YMCA daycare center. In the morning, it’s pretty noisy if your room is on that side of the building. If you don’t mind being awakened by the kiddie noises, you’ll like the hotel.

Traveler's tip

Leave the car at home and take the subway around town. This hotel is in a convenient location so you won’t have to deal with parking or taxis.

I should have asked for a quieter room!

Room was beautifully decorated. Nice warm cookies upon arrival, a great touch. Friendly staff. Beds were too hard- after three nights, my back was sore. My husband did not sleep well on their mattresses either. Room was noisy - I kept waking up from the noise, not street traffic. We were on the first floor.

Traveler's tip

Starbucks is right next door as is the YMCA for workouts. Chinatown is two blocks over. Metro line is a quarter block away, very convenient. You can save a little money by parking your vehicle in the lot nearby rather than paying hotel valet if you are on a budget. Charles River and park are just a few blocks over.

Good place to stay, not downtown

Just be aware that you’re not staying downtown, but on the edge (theater district, if you can call it that, and Chinatown). Major plus is that it’s right next to a T (subway) stop, so you can get anywhere from there. And you get access to the adjaced YMCA. Not fancy, but surprisingly good, and much better equipped than your average hotel gym, of course.

Traveler's tip on dining

Be sure to check out Chinatown, just a couple of blocks away. I recommend Pho Pasteur for some of the best, fastest, cheapest Vietnamese food in the states. And the Golden Emperor (name?), right next door to Pho Pasteur, that serves really great dim sum all day long. It’s upstairs. Used to be the Chinese movie theater, and you can still see the box seats up in the wall and the restaurant’s name is on the old marquee. You can’t miss it. It’s "Golden" something, I think.

odd that they didn’t offer more info

they didn’t let us know about the use of the pool at the YMCA next door as part of the room. Wish someone would have said something.

Bar/Restraunt Service was terrible!

One of the bar tenders was just plain rude! And come on, just because there is a Starbuck’s in the building doesn’t mean your restaurant shouldn’t serve coffee. It’s a restaurant for goodness sake.

Unforgettable Cookies..

Comfortable and clean hotel, the 3-star rating is about right. On the downside, the lobby and restaurant (Wisteria) seem a bit outdated and unappealing. It’s dimly lit, there’s a funny stench, and though the service was efficient, the staff didn’t seem too enthusiastic which was a slight turn-off. The bartender however, was great! On the bright side, however, the location is great. South Street train station is less than 10 min away, Chinatown and Tufts university are basically across the street, and Newbury St, the Public Park are fairly close as well. We were able to walk to all the sites we wanted to visit thanks to the proximity of the hotel to those areas. Another plus was the signs posted in the hotel indicating that they were going to commence major asthetic overhauls soon, so that was quite promising. The room itself (we were on the 6th floor-highest level), was clean and a bit more contemporary than what I had expected based on the look of the lobby. It was a nice surprise. The bathroom was spotless and we had an ample amount of fresh towels and quality toiletries (Neutrogena products). Hopefully they upgrade the tv sets next, b/c they use the bulky tube TVs. The best aspect our stay was the complimentary chocolate chip cookies! These are given upon check-in, all warm and ready to devour. It’s so incredibly delicious that I took home a tin!

It got the job done

There was nothing outstanding on either side of the coin. The room was what I needed it to be. A week after the trip, upon reflrction, I can say with utter confidence that on my next business trip to Boston, I will stay at that hotel if the room rate is within my travel stipend limit.

Will definitely stay here again

I found the accommodations to be extremely comfortable, clean and welcoming. The service was equally as good if not better (if possible). All employees of the hotel were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect. I was able to walk to any of the sights I wished to visit. Great place to stay - I will definitely be back.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

I highly recommend that you walk the "Freedom Trail." I also recommend paying the few dollars for the walking guided tour of the "Trail." You can catch the tour from the visitor’s center location in the Commons. If you do nothing else, walk the Freedom Trail. You will see almost all of the historic sights in Boston if you do so.

Great for New England Med Ctr

This is obviously meant to be THE place to stay if you’re visiting Tufts Univ / New England Medical Ctr. Chinatown is right there, so no lack of great restaurants. If you need quiet, get a room facing away from the Med Ctr. Hotel restaurant is OK for breakfast, not much else ... but you shouldn’t need it. No wired Internet, so wireless or nothing.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There’s a Metro station right at Tufts; short walk up to Boyleston station for the main line. Jacob Wirth’s German-American restaurant is only 2 blocks away -- great beer and good food.

Very good hotel, good location

We stayed at the Downtown Double Tree for four nights in March. The hotel is right next to a T stop and it was perfect for when we wanted to travel around the city. The hotel is also a short walk from Boston Common and Beacon Hill. We had no problems while staying there. The staff was curtious and inviting. We left our bags there before check-in and after check-out before we went to the airport and there were no problems. Our room was clean and we had access to the adjacent YMCA. Great Place!

misrepresentation of breakfast buffet

I have stayed at this hotel many times. It is clean and reliable. This time I booked two nights one for me and another as a mini vacation for my nephew and his wife. When entering the hotel there is a sign heralding the breakfast from 7-11am. In the past I have had complimentary continental breakfast and expected the same. We were never told that coupons were needed. When my nephew went down for the buffet he was billed for $37. An outrageous price for a continental breakfast. Had I known I would have sent him to another place for a better breakfast at a better price.
