Fun Place in Toronto

The hotel was convenient and close to everything that we wanted to see. The city subway and streetcar system was great. The daily family pass worked well for us. This hotel is close to shopping and restaurants. Parking was over priced in my opinion. Nice lap pool, hot tub and exercise area.

Great value in downtown Toronto

Approaching the Courtyard Marriott Downtown was strangely familiar. I’d been there before, and just forgotten it (I follow the best deals, rather than brand loyalty). I had the option of valet parking or less expensive public parking nearby. Hotel staff were universally courteous, cheerful, and willing to help with everything from luggage to taxis. My room was standard, but spacious, and I love the free Wi-Fi and business center that make things like booking restaurant reservations so much easier. I didn’t use a lot of the hotel’s resources since I was focused on other things this trip, but I like the Marriott Courtyard Downtown. It’s easy to find, all the cab drivers know where it is, and it’s a relatively short trip either by taxi or the nearby TTC to get just about anywhere in the city. Nearby restaurants offer a lot of options, from fast food to good ethnic choices. It’s the people that make a hotel experience work, and even if hearing them answer the phone with "Inspired to Serve!" sounds cheesy, they really seemed to mean it. I’ll be back -- next time I’ll look for this hotel first among my choices.

Great price for location

Excellent price for downtown Toronto hotel. Wasn’t told about the $25 parking fee that was added to my bill on checkout, but it was still cheaper than parking anywhere else downtown.

Great place to visit

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The location is great; right next to the subway station and the staff is very friendly. The workout facility and pool are also very nice and clean.

Toronto Courtyard Marriott - Yonge St - Excellent

As expected, the hotel was well up to Marriott’s standards. What made this hotel uniquely pleasurable was the staff. The desk folks were efficient and polite, as they should be. Very personable. The two groups of folks who made me Smile Big were the Valet Parking staff and the Housekeeping staff. They bookended the hotel experience in a way quite unusual to normal. Not a sour person in the bunch - that made the difference.

Very good but...

The only thing that I wasn’t completely happy with was the size of the room. It was a king-size bed room with only one "soft back" chair pushed up against the window. It would have been nice if there had been two. Except for that, I felt the hotel was great! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. Very clean and modern. Even though one of us relaxed sitting up on the bed, we’ll return to this hotel in the future.

Would stay here again.

I had a good stay at this hotel. It was clean, in good condition and appeared to have been renovated recently. There is a new flat screen TV. It seemed odd that its address is on Yonge Street yet the main entrance is on the other side of the building away from Yonge Street with access only from the side streets. I had only 2 minor problems: the bolt lock on the room door was hard to lock and the top sheet on the bed seemed to be too short and was not tucked in properly when the bed was made up. Otherwise everything worked well. There is a subway station about 2 blocks away.

Would NEVER stay here again

I stayed at the Days Inn just around the corner before and got the same quality room for half the price. This is not up to the normal standards of a Courtyard hotel. The staff was not helpful with any question I had. They would direct me someplace else for an answer. A breakfast for two was $55. The fire alarm want off twice in the middle of the night for false alarms. Of the three times I have stayed in Toronto this is by far the worst hotel. If you do stay here check your credit card charges when you get home because I found a charge for $18.46 that they now have to credit back to me card. There are many more hotels in Toronto that I’m sure are better then this one. I could name two.

Take the street cars when you can.

Very convenient to the heart of the city. What you would expect from a Courtyard by Marriott.

Good location--Needs Updating... especially the bathroom!

Good location. Budget friendly. Odd bathroom--no sink in actual bathroom. Sink is located in bedroom. The bathroom needs serious updating! The pool and spa also need better maintenance. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful!

Hard to get to

Besides not having any shuttle service from the Airport and having to be dropped off 2 blocks away from the hotel and carrying my bags there, the hotel stay was very accomodating with a balcony and king bed. A bit farther north then I usually stay downtown, it showed me some areas of Younge Street I wasnt familiar with. Construction and proximity to dynamic shopping area.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Certainly a nightlife area for the younger crowd though lots of side streets had some terrific restaurants and attractions.

Nice Location

Hotel is located right in downtown within walking distance of Eaton Centre and the Royal Ontario Museum. Does not have a microwave or a refrigerator in the room. Try not to eat at the hotel service is poor.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Many to-go eateries around this hotel can save a few bucks.

Didn’t love it...

A large group of family flew to our wedding in NYC, and so my husband and I took everyone for a short trip to Toronto. While having to look after a large group was not easy, we managed to settle everyone into the mediocre rooms. Even though we had booked online before leaving, we arrived and the front desk clerks seemed surprised to be checking in our 4 rooms, and ended up giving us one of the rooms on a completely different floor. 2 rooms out of the 4 seemed to have smaller beds, but we didnt notice until the last day of checking out. Not to mention as I was checking out, I was slapped with a bill for TV movie charges that occurred in the room with a 4 year old child that simply played with the remote control and unknowingly selected movies. The records even showed each movie was watched for a small amount of time, and yet I was still billed per movie literally for only minutes. The first night we checked in as 4 per room, we only had 3 towels to use. It was late, we were tired, so we didn’t make a big fuss. Parking was a completely different episode. We arrived and were told that they had valet parking for $30 and a parking lot across the street for $25. If we chose to park at the $25 lot, they were not responsible if there were anything to happen to our car. I can’t find the right words to say but - how ghetto. Overall, we felt un-welcomed, and would not stay there ever again on our next visit to Toronto.

More to see

The hotel was clean and well kept. Housekeeping services were great. The only problem was the ice machine was not functional for most of the trip and had to go to other floors to get ice.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

This hotel was within walking distance to shopping, dining, convenience stores and my new love...palestinian food...yummy. Access to taxis are right outside the hotel. Use tramcars or the subway its a nice way to see the city. Chinatown is a must cheap cheap cheap!

Good stay for price

Overall satisfied with stay at this hotel, good size room with very comfortable bedding, no one came to clean room two days in row but rectified with hotel management. Walking distance to all downtown attractions using PTA services nearby. Would stay at this hotel again.

Weird layout but good!

The hotel itself was very nice. Great location! Great and friendly service. Nice pull in area for cars. Fast valet service. Almost no wait time when calling the front desk. And the room maintenance is done very well. The only thing that was bothersome was that the sink was outside of the bathroom. So in instances where you had to wash your hands after using the bathroom, you would have to step out of the bathroom and walk over to the sink which is actually behind the bathroom itself. Overall still a great stay!
