A Viable Option
Booked Hotel Richmond at the last minute. Location was convenient. Disappointed that could not get into my room until 3PM (I know there’s no obligation for earlier, but most European hotels understand the plight of weighted-down, sweaty international travelers). Then on check-out day, someone was banging on my door to clean the room at 8:30 in the morning! Room was quite spartan by US standards, especially for the price, though nothing terribly wrong. Best part was the breakfast which was great.

Train/ferry ride from/to Hamburg was pretty and different.

Okay Hotel
Hotel is conveniently located near attractions, public transportation, etc. Rooms clean, but no commodities like a radio-clock, shampoo, body lotion... At the rate is was perfectly fine, though.

Satisfactory
Location is excellent. One may reach any part of the city within a twenty minute walk. Train station is a block away, the main station, about five blocks. Neighborhood is safe and very quiet at night. The hotel staff were courteous and very helpful with special requests and providing information. The hotel is under new ownership and is in a transitional state. The restaurant was just renovated and opened on the day of my departure. Looked nice but didn’t have the time to dine. The downside of the hotel were several. Walls were thin so you were able to hear people in the next rooms, especially at night. Linen was soiled upon my arrival but was taken care of by housekeeping. There were several lights burned out in the room. The shower water was warm at best, sometimes just cold regardless of the time of day. Overall, for my purpose, the hotel was satisfactory. For my next trip to Copenhagen, I may choose another hotel if available however I would have no problem staying at the Richmond again. As I stated above, the hotel is in transition and I believe it will only get better.
Traveler's tip
Be sure to use the train service and go out into the countryside. The country is beautiful and should be experienced. The train service is excellent and personnel are very helpful. Also try to take in the Opera, Ballet or a Theater production. World class entertainment performed in beautiful venues.
