Great Munich Hotel close to public transportation

This hotel was a great deal and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Munich, especially during Oktoberfest. While it’s not walking distance to the town center, it’s a quick and convenient ride on either the tram or the S-bon. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a good experience.

Great hotel, bad location

This is a wonderful hotel but for now its in a bad location. The hotel is located in Moosach, which is a suburb of Munich. While the hotel is right in front of a tram stop, the tram lines are being refurbished and given how torn up the streets were, will clearly not be working soon. Also, they are building an extention of the Ubahn (subway) that will be quite close but again, that is at least 1 year away. Which leaves the S-bahn train, which is about a 10 minute walk away and only runs every 20 minutes at peak times. In two years, this will be a great hotel, easily accessed, but as of Sept. 2008, its not. Finally, pay the extra to get a room facing away from the street. The hotel is right at a very busy corner and the street noise literally is deafening for rooms that face the front.

Very friendly hotel

Mayerhof is a very small hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. They helped us with our every need. Our only regret is that due to the location, we had to take to train into the center of town where we needed to go every day.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Go to BMW Welt (world), it is amazing. Marienplatz is wonderful as well. There are lots of shops and beautiful architecture. Climb the 306 steps to "Alter Peter" in Peterskirtche Church, you can see forever.

Great choice in Munich

As Americans traveling by car in Germany, we looked for a good price and available parking. Although the parking and the restaurant are extra cost, the hotel itself is extremely clean and comfortable with a competent staff, several of whom speak English. Ask the desk about travel in Munich via rail or bus. Parking in Munich may be a challenge.

Excellent Hotel Stay

The Hotel Mayerhof is a quality hotel with an exuberant staff that speaks wonderful English and can give pointers on improving your German. The hotel is meticulously clean and maintains a very inviting atmosphere. Getting downtown is a snap, there is a tram right out the door. Airport access is also fairly easy, though the instructions need to include how to get from the U1 line to the hotel. The area around the hotel offers some good food at some local German restaurants. All-in-all this was an above expected experience.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Was a great place to stay for the Munich Marathon, they allowed us to stay in our room until four so we could shower afterwards.
