Avoid the courtyard building
The name, "Chateau Granville," may give you the impression that you are staying at a luxury five-star hotel. Nope. This is a typical Best Western economy hotel. The location and service during my visit was adequate and the adjoining restaurant, "The Edge," offered a tasty dinner. My biggest complaint was being assigned to the "courtyard" building. To get into the building, you have to leave the lobby, cross a scary, poorly lit alley and then open a security door into the courtyard. Ugh. If you get mugged in the ally, at least you are only steps from your room. Secondly, my room had a strange emergency exit door that was situated about two feet off of the floor and opened onto an enclosed fire escape. Weird.

dont stay in the courtyard!
I would NEVER stay in the courtyard part of this hotel again. You have to cross an alley way to enter into the courtyard, but that was not the worst of it. The room had no window. We felt like we were sleeping in a cave! It was so dark in our room. There is only 3 lamps to light the room. It was not comfortable!
Robson Street was great for shopping!

UNHAPPY WITH ROOM AND LOCATION! NOT IN MAIN TOWER!
WE WERE ADVISED THAT WE WERE WALKING ACOSS AN ALLEY TO OUR ROOM WHERE WE OBSERVED HOMELESS PEOPLE AND LARGE RATS IN THE ALLEY ALONG WITH SEWER SMELLING WATER THAT WE HAD TO CROSS WITH 5 LARGE SUITCASES.I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO MISTREATED BY HOTEL STAFF MY ENTIRE LIFE.THE DESK MANAGER WAS VERY RUDE TO US.WE BOOKED BEFORE OUR RELATIVES AND THEY WERE PUT IN THE MAIN TOWER.

OUR COUSIN’S BOOKED IN THE SAME HOTEL AND THEY WERE UPGRADED INTO A SUITE IN THE MAIN TOWER FOR FREE OF THE HOTEL WHILE WE WERE ACROSS THE STREET IN WHAT THEY CALLED THE GARDENS.WE WERE FORCED TO CARRY OUR BAGS UP A LARGE FLIGHT OF STAIRS.
