What a dive!
Upon check-in the unfriendly clerk handed me keys to a non-smoking room that stank of smoke and alcohol and reminded me of a dingy bar. The carpet was dirty, loose, needed vacuuming, and a dark color (browns, oranges, maroons). The bedspreads contained the same colors. The room was dark and dreary. There was no light fixture in the dressing area (closet, dressing counter top w/ mirror). The phone was damaged. One of the light fixtures near the bed was inoperable. A waste of money. The only good part of the stay was that I was just there overnight.

Don’t go there, unless you enjoy dark, dreary, smelly rooms.

Nice view
Good staff, full maid service, paper on weekdays, continental breakfast, safe place to stay. Excellent location for I-580 and getting around the bay area.

Good value in Castro Valley
Good location with surprising view if you have a car. Lets you access the city or Oakland easily without being in a congested area - very suburban, quiet and nice.
