A Pleasant Stay at Eliza Thompson
If youre going to a city known for its historic buildings, why not stay in one of them rather than another chain hotel? Eliza Thompson House is a great starting point for wandering around the historic district. The hotel staff are incredibly welcoming. We enjoyed starting our day with breakfast (its not just coffee and cold cereal!) in the courtyard. Complimentary evening wine and cheese in the parlor is nice if you are interested in getting ideas of what to do in Savannah from other guests at the inn. Rooms on the courtyard are new construction, decently sized, though not large with high comfy beds & good pressure in the showers. Rooms in the main building appeared to be larger and more charming.
Everyone recommends the trolley ride, but we were going to skip it because it seemed so lame. By our last day, though, we had covered most of the city by foot multiple times over, so we took the trolley because we had run out of things to do. As youd expect it was filled with tourists (us included) but it was a pleasant trip, and we learned a few tidbits about Savannah that we would not have learned just from reading the plaques posted about town. We took the Ogelthorpe tour. Pack walking shoes, Savannah is made for wandering.

Nice but cramped
The Eliza Thompson house is in one of the most lovely areas of Savannah. The rooms are a bit small and as a person seeking the warmth of the sun, there was no way to just relax in the courtyard. The staff tries hard to be helpful, the breakfast, wine and desert provided are nice additions to staying at the bed and breakfast.

Beautiful courtyard
We enjoyed our stay in Eliza Thompson House very much. Its located on the most beautiful street in Savannah. The breakfast buffet, served outside in the courtyard was very relaxing.
