Great Phuket Hotel

Holiday Inn Phuket was a great hotel. The staff was friendly and willing to please. It’s on the beach and close to the shopping and the clubs. The rooms were quite big and comfortable. There were a couple of large pools. The adult pool was really clean and nice but a bit shallow. The pool for the adults and kids was deeper but could have been cleaner. The food and drinks were very reasonable and great quality.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you want tourist trips while in Phuket, use the street vendors. They sell the same trips for less.

Better options available

Pros: Good location in downtown Patong, with almost direct access to the beach and the main drag (beach in Patong is always crowded. If you want some leg room, go to the coves north or south of Patong) and great pools IF you like kids around. They were undergoing a major facelift while I was there but once that’s completed should be quite nice. Cons: Internet fee was OUTRAGEOUS. Walk down the road to an internet cafe if you want to check email. Beach side pool is very loud and crowded. Better options exist if you want a place to escape the madness of Patong (while staying there!)

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Would recommend the marriott hotel across the road if you want a little more upscale but same location and if you are single or couple. Much better option if you are w/o kids.

If you want to be in the city: good hotel

The hotel is simple, not too expensive, the ’currently-under construction’ wing has a fantastic saline pool, the spa is great (though not cheap compared to the ’spas’ on the street), and the service is good.
