Has its good points...
The Forest Lake AmericInn is a more or less working class hotel in a fast-growing area on the fringe of the suburbs that is somewhat short on hotel rooms at present. With the addition of the new "Running Aces" harness horse racetrack about five minutes down the freeway, there are now two main attractions to be enjoyed in the area. The other is the sprawling Carlos Avery Wildlife Area, which lies just northwest of Forest Lake and as great for a day of nature observation or, in season, for hunting. The AmericInn has a nice pool and spa area. The night we checked in a few moms had rented a couple of rooms to bring in a dozen or more girls for a birthday party, so it was pretty hectic. The next day the pool area was empty. Desk staff was extremely helpful in getting us into a room we liked. There are several layouts, so feel free to ask. Ours was on the west side overlooking a scenic marsh and pond. It also faced the freeway, but far enough away that the noise was not a problem. The bed sagged in the middle. This was a problem. Other than that, the room was fine and so was the hotel. Had a great Mexican dinner in town.
