Nice and close to attractions

The hotel was very nice. The restaurant is actually a diner attached to the hotel. The Seaport is a 2 minute drive as is the Aquariuam so we loved the location. The hotel itself could use some updating and TLC, but other than that, it was nice.

clean room and great helpfull staff

Staff was very helpfull and always had a smile to give. Room was clean and a great value for the rate as it was close to everything.

Okay for the price, but...

Our room was almost directly below the Interstate, so we had to keep the window closed. The humidifier made a constant noise, so we had to unplug it. The hallways were blocked by maintenance gear and the entire motel seemed like a throwback to the sixties. Only the price was right.

air conditioner blows on you when sleeping..

I just stayed at Howard Johnson’s recently and I have the same complaint as many. I decided to see if it was true and took the side of the bed close to the air conditoner...Needless, to say I was up all night with the air blowing right on my back....

Happy Extended Family

Nice and convenient for a weekend get away. Needed a room for 5 and with a spacious room with 2 queen beds and a roll-a-way our needs were met. The roll-a-way was not a shaky little cot but a sturdy twin bed. The microwave and refrigerator just added to our comfort level.

Can’t wait to go back

The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel was within walking distance of many local attractions. We enjoyed the pool.

Won’t stay again

Funky smell. Ripped and dirty wallpaper in multiple areas. Decor indicates no updates in about 25 years.

No TV

The hotel is fine. The indoor pool is great, 9 feet deep! The only bad thing was there is no TV reception. In the lobby they havd a HD TV with great reception. In the room you can only see one station. We told the girl at the desk and her reply was that other people have told here that.

The city has plenty of things to see. The aquarium is a great place for children and adults.

Convenient and quiet - absolutly NO FRILLS, good value

In the heart of Mystic Attractions!

My husband and I recently traveled to Mystic with our one year old son. The room certainly wasn’t huge, but we didn’t spend much time there so we weren’t concerned. The hotel was a one minute car ride away from the aquarium, directly across the street from shops, and right down the road from Mystic Seaport. We loved the location and the indoor pool! The amenities were also convenient- having a one year old meant we needed to keep milk cold in the refridgerator our whole stay. Overall, we had no problems at all and I would recommend it for anyone who’s not looking to take a vacation to the hotel.

The Equinox diner and Friendly’s are both in the same parking lot as the Howard Johnson Inn - it makes meal time much easier with small children!

let down

We had been here before. The rooms are clean the staff is friendly it is right near mystic aquarium. The One Main reason we go is the indoor heated pool. 3 kids 2 rooms and a cold pool. It was quite dissapointing. It was warm enough to go in for a short time but then everyones lips started to turn blue. Needless to say it kind of ruined our trip.

Clean and comfy for low price

Stayed here first on a "tour of New England" weekend, just for one night. Room was clean, service was good. Nothing fancy, but good if you are looking for a quiet, convenient place to stay near Mystic attractions.

Awesome experience!

The price of the room was excellent and so was the state of the room. Clean, appliances working, comfortable beds, everything was great!

A good Place to stay with kids

Me my 11 year old and my 8 year old daughters decided to check out this hotel. They each brought a friend so that was a total of 4 kids and 1 adult. The ldy at the front desk was awsome, she treated us so good. If I ever go to the Mystic area I will defenitly go there again. The pool was great (but I wish the water was alittle warmer) and there is no hot tub in the pool area. But besides that I give it an A+++. My last thought is for the extra couple of dollars the jacuzzi bath tub room is awsome. A kid favorite.

vERY NICE BUT ON THE CRAMPED SIDE!

WEHAD A ROM WITH A KING SIZE BED THAT LETF LESS THAN 1 FOOT OF SPACE BETWEEN THE ALL AND THE BED. THE ROOM SEEMED TO BE CRAMPED WITH THE KING SIZE BED AND WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER SUITED TO A QUEEN SIZE. iN GENERAL, THE ROOM WAS ON THE SMALL SIDE BUT GENERALLY COMFORTABLE AND WELL MAINTAINED.

Will return next year!!

It is always wonderful to return to a hotel you are comfortable in, that has good service. We would not think of staying anywhere else when we are in Mystic.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Howard Johnsons in Mystic is centrally located to many attractions around the area. Example: Mohegan Sun, Deep Sea Fishing, Connecticut Wine Trail.

Hotel was nice and it was in a great location with the attractions we want to see within a few miles. Would stay there again.

This hotel is in a great location, near attractions, restaurants. Hotel needs a little make-over to brighten it up, but otherwise spotless condition and excellent staff.

We recently stayed at the Howard Johnson in Mystic, CT. The hotel was definitely dated. The hallways had a stale old hotel smell. Although our room was large, one of the two queen beds was positioned not more than 12 inches away from the air conditioning unit so that you really felt it when the A/C clicked on. The room was fairly clean. The best part of the hotel was the pool. It was clean and well kept. We would not stay here again.

So So

O.K. for the frequent travelor who just needs a place to crash for the night. The pool area was the best feature. It seems that a lot of families enjoy this hotel since it tended to fill up with such every evening during our two night stay. However, I have stayed in better for the price, and would not necessarily go back to this one.

The best thing about this hotel was the location. Was very close to Mystic Seaport...within walking distance if needed or desired.

not impressed

The ceiling was in need of repair, bathroom wall had mold between tile. A little disappointing after seeing the lobby.Close to attractions and easy to find off the highway.

I was very disappointed

I expected better quality from Howard Johnsons. Considering the location of the hotel being right in the center of Mystic and all of the attractions. The room was very dark and felt damp. The carpet was dark the bedding was dark and gave the feel of a cave. The bathroom was a disgrace. There was one bath towel in our room for four people. The toilet was not level and it ran unless you went in and giggled the handle. The bathroom was very small and the door open to the inside where if someone was in the shower you had to close the door to let them out. The sink and vanity were out dated to say the least and we were suppose to have two queen size beds which I’ve never seen a queen size bed that small. The mattresses were old and could use either pillow tops or brand new ones.

Loved our room

Great location, great hotel. The room was big and very clean. Loved the balcony and the jacuzzi bathtub. We will be staying there when we go back.
