Great stay at the Bloomsbury
I had a delightful experience at this hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful, and the recommendations from the concierge for getting around London were great. Hotel is quaint (little tiny elevator) and views do not have any particular view, but my interest was in a safe, clean place to sleep, and it was all that!!
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The location is terrific. 2 short blocks from the metro station, bus stop directly in front of the hotel, next door to a very inexpensive internet cafe, just around the corner from the British Museum, short walk to a delightful little restaurant (Cagneys), where we sat outside and had dinner while watching people at the outside area of little pubs on either side of the restaurant. Russell Square park is just a few steps from the front door, on the opposite side of the street.

Not worth it!
This hotel initially drew me in because it was advertised as close to some of the attractions of London. This was relatively true, as we were able to walk to almost everything. (within 2-5 miles). However, we had to switch rooms FOUR times! There was no AC and we requested a room with air. We had to literally sit in the hall and wait for Housekeeping to clean the room only to find out that there were actually GUESTS in that room! The hotel seemed very unorganized overall and were not quick to fix things that didnt work (like our telephone - in TWO rooms!) My recommendation, there are plenty of hotels to choose from closer to restaurants and bars that might actually have decent customer service...this would NOT be my choice!
Traveler's tip on dining
Many of the bars/restuarants around this hotel only serve food until 4pm, then they become pubs only. We had to walk FAR to find restaurants that still served food closer to 7 or 8pm. Keep that in mind!

Pleased, but not thrilled; yes, I would return
Not the Ritz, but a serviceable hotel centrally located and convenient to transportation and the British Museum
Traveler's tip on dining
The hotel restaurant suffices nicely, but if not, the area offers a multitude of other options, like he Pizza Express nearby and a supermarket not too far down the road
