Excellent in all respects
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The hotel location is ideal, adjacent to a lovely park and across from the Melbourne Cricket Field and Rod Laver Sports complex, and very close to restaurants, cafe’s and Flinder’s Station, a major transit hub. It is on a major trolley line for convenient local transportation. The hotel staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating and the included breakfast was excellent.
Traveler's tip on dining
Recommend "Two Fat Indians", "Italy I" and "The Water Front" in the Casino Complex. Check prices so that you are not surprised. Young and Jackson on Flinders Street is a fun bar, with music, great beers on tap and reasonable bar food. Visit Victoria Market, it is awesome!! St. Kilda, Richmond, the Docklands, and South Yarra/Prahran are nice walking area.

Worth the stay
Overall the hotel is worth staying at. It is a short 1km walk to the heart of the downtown area, and there is also a tram stop right in front of the hotel. The hotel abuts a pleasant city park for short walks. The room I stayed in was reasonably sized, although the ’queen size’ bed was two double-beds put together, European style. Hotel staff were friendly and service was good. The Aussie/English breakfast was good but expensive.
