Our hotel of choice
We travel to London 4 or 5 times a year. We always try to stay at the Lancaster London. When we checked in two weeks ago I was not happy with the condition of the room we were given. The wall paper was old and not in good repair and the entire room had a tired look. In all the years we have stayed there it was the first time I have not been happy with the room. I called the desk and was immediately moved to another room which had a great view and was in excellent condition. I have always found the staff very helpful. A plus is that there is on site parking and the Lascaster Gate tube stop on the Central line is adjacent to the hotel. Since I travel with only a small case I can walk the 3 blocks from Paddington Station to the hotel in less than 10 minutes. It is located right across the street from Hyde Park and there are small cafes and restaurants nearby where you get good breakfasts.

Great hotel, great location
The staff was exceedingly kind and helpful. The location next to public transportation, taxis, Paddington Station, and Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens is fantastic. The room was lovely, clean, and comfortable. I had the best meal in their Island restaurant.

Happy with stay
The hotel was quiet and comfortable, concierge helpful and the room larger than expected. The location near Paddington (5 min. walk) was perfect for an early morning train to Heathrow (right by Lancaster Gate Underground station, too). The only negative was the 17 GBP daily internet charge, which is excessive. Be forewarned and choose elewhere if this sort of gouging charge bothers you.
