Looking forward to returning

This hotel has all the creature comforts, as well as being centrally located. It is within walking distance to the museum and all the downtown shops and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and sizable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to both travellers and business people alike, as the price is competative and the accomodations are comfy.

Very pleasant stay

Room was nice and clean with a good view of the lake, and the staff were helpful and attentive. I didn’t have dinner or see the show, but breakfast was very plentiful (English style) and reasonably priced. City center only a short walk away. Just note the location means you are near to the hot springs, and therefore the smell of sulfur is quite strong - but you get used to it quickly.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Plenty of activites in the area, including Maori shows, hot springs and geysers, spas, cablecar ride, luge rides and lake cruises. A hire car is really essential to get around. Prices of coach tours surprisingly expensive - you’re better off hiring a car and going to them yourself.

Great Location, Contemporary & Pretty Ambience

This was a great place to relax after our South Island Campervan tour (also a highly recommended NZ experience). We were able to forego a car rental because it is centrally located. We walked into the main part of town and to a couple of tourist attractions within minutes. AND we were right next door to a large grocery store. We could see lake rotorua, just beyond the driveway. However, the hotel staff told us that if we wanted to jump into the lake, the best beach was a 15 min walk away. No matter since we were still able to enjoy the natural hot springs using their on-site pool and private spas. I’m guessing they filled these pool/spas by funneling the springs directly. The private spas were a novel idea. They have 3 spas which were housed in the main pool house. You’re given a key to a spa room for 30 min in which you and your company can soak and relax in privacy. The atmosphere of the hotel is contemporary, trendy, and pretty, and the staff members were oh so welcoming! A few tiny drawbacks that do not make or break any hotel experience by any means are: 1. tv only had 4 channels 2. the spas were private for 30 min but only if the party before you was considerate enough to return the key to the front desk on time

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you don’t mind walking and taking public transportation, do not rent a car while staying in Rotorua. You won’t need it at this hotel. From airport to your hotel, pay NZ$2.00 for the city public bus and walk 3 blocks to your hotel. We saved about $200 since we cancelled part of our car rental. If you do rent a car, parking is free and plentiful at this hotel.
